    Kill the fighter

It may not have had something called "Fighter," but the Warmain was so very, very much the Fighter. It replaces some of the bonus feats with fixed class features and iirc had a d12 HD, but otherwise the same exact class. Right down to getting Weapon Specialization.

    Multiclassing Monk question

Eh, Reflex is the least dangerous save to fail, and IME Improved Evasion basically boils down to "If I roll a 1" more often than not. Maybe not quite that extreme, but most classes that get it tend to have good base reflex and decent to high dex already.

Simple, (hopefully) balanced Vow of Poverty Houserules!

Armor and weapons would simply be whatever it takes to remove them (you can free action drop a weapon if that's sufficient to the situation). But for everything else? Standard each? Also, I just realized...should I prohibit the use of extradimensional space items for what you can select...

    Multiclassing Monk question

I'd say 6 or 8. Level 8 you get an extra flurry attack, AC and unarmed damage increases, and it's just before a "no BAB increase" level. I suppose you could go to 10 for the bonus feat, but generally I find the best monks are the ones with as little monk in them as possible...

No, I was asking. Should it be a move action per item? A standard? Or something else entirely?

    Multiclassing Monk question

Without retraining, it'll be tough to improve your character. See if you could at least retcon being a Qinggong Monk (UM). All of their variants are optional, you can take them or not, so there's no reason for a monk to *not* be one. You could go to 20th level, never take a single one of the...

    Kill the fighter

In general, the most popular of anything seems to be the most generic and bland option. Coke/Pepsi for soda, vanilla for ice cream / pudding, regular hershey bar is the most popular chocolate bar, plain potato chips... Fighter is the vanilla of D&D. It's not very good, but it's so lacking in...

Simple, (hopefully) balanced Vow of Poverty Houserules!

What would you say is balanced and simple enough to use in game? Could make it a move or standard action to turn off each individual "item" or back on, perhaps. Also, I'm sure you were just calling it that out of convenience for lack of a better term, but this is not a "feat." It costs...

    Multiclassing Monk question

Next questions: Are you able to massively retrain your character? As in, stay monk, but add acrhetypes, replace feats, etc...? How poorly optimized is the rest of the party and how does your character compare to them in combat? Are you satisfied with your current power level? Cause, I'm not...

    Multiclassing Monk question

Are you using no archetypes at all? What books are allowed? What are all your feats? Race? Core monk doesn't have any good 6th level feats really. The Improved feats suck now, you need the greater versions to do anything. Except, monks can't get them as they require int 13 and expertise...

D&D 3.x Need help with 3.5 stealthy Sniper

Crossbow can be good for a sneak attacker, you just will be limited to 60 ft range for SA. If that's a problem, snipe with spells. You should be a rogue//wizard, possibly with a prestige class and possibly dipping out of rogue for stuff (I'm a huge fan of dipping swordsage from Tome of Battle...

Simple, (hopefully) balanced Vow of Poverty Houserules!

As currently written, and intended, the effects are always on and cannot be turned off. Another drawback/hindrance limiting it. I would be open to adding the ability to turn them off if people thought it would still be balanced.

Simple, (hopefully) balanced Vow of Poverty Houserules!

Yes. Raise spells fail if you don't choose to come back. If someone can raise you, there's a good chance they can also cast atonement on you, though. Yes. But a DM that doesn't accomodate reasonable item desires of the players is just screwing over noncasters mostly, casters can make their...

Simple, (hopefully) balanced Vow of Poverty Houserules!

No, not the feat. And no, dear god no, not the awful Pathfinder version for monks. I'm talking about something that doesn't suck and makes playing a character that doesn't come decked out in magic items possible. Vow of Poverty: You swear to forsake the use of all magic items, seeing them as...

Wilding Clasp + Armor + Wildshape

    1. Welcome to ENWorld. 2. This thread is REALLY old 3. The errata to wildshape that made everything meld and become nonfunctional without exception was super dumb. That's the only reason for wildling clasps to exist, and you're better off just stripping and having someone dress you after...

Pathfinder 1E What are your Pathfinder houserules?

Cause weapon being completely inoperable until you can fix it is totally on par with dropping it. One of my earliest 3E play experiences, the DM used crit fumble rules where my archer's bow string broke if he fumbled. I marveled at how a moderate sized archer squad was pretty much guaranteed...

No one here like level adjustments. :p (And the "lesser" outsider races from FR are broken as all hell)

    Elusive Target

OP, I agree with your interpretation. Not allowing Imp. Trip's extra attack because of a wording technicality is unnecessary hair splitting, IMO, and I really hate absurdly strict RAW outlooks. They're weak mooks. He wouldn't have batted an eye if the caster nuked them, I guarantee you...

Ideas and musings on my ideal magic rules system

I don't want perfect balance, I want noticeable differences in what a caster and non-caster can do. I don't mind a high level wizard being more outright powerful than a high level fighter. I say this as someone who mostly plays non-casters. What I do want, is for the casters to not be able to...

    Fortitude Saves for Multi-Class

It's +4. Multiclassing still sucks. Don't sweat it.
