The Fantastic Four: First Steps - Official Teaser Trailer (2025)

But...is the movie about those real-world parallels? I mean, I never get the sense in that movie that it's trying to talk about that. Maybe Thunderbolts is just more obvious about it?

The Fantastic Four: First Steps - Official Teaser Trailer (2025)

It is overtly, pointedly addressing real-world issues, but in a different way. Thunderbolts is arguably overt about it, but does a lot of its work with metaphors.

Could an American write Doctor Who? - Babylon 5 creator throws hat in the ring

This is a good point. I was going to suggest the option of a Sherlock-like approach, with three or four 1.5-hour episodes/movies per season, but that would have the same problem.

What are you reading in 2025?

Vacationing in Ireland soon, so I'm reading The Story of Ireland by Neil Hegarty, and The Origins of the Irish, by J.P. Mallory.

D&D General Quotes from Your Last Session

"So, I pick up the dolphin - still holding the racoon - and..." "Who knows what's happening with your pants right now..." "Do I know this mandrill?"

Could an American write Doctor Who? - Babylon 5 creator throws hat in the ring

I don't feel that strongly about it, but I kind of agree, so I get what your saying and why. I'd love to see a showrunner take a modern bindge-streaming approach to Who, with a single story per season and thus lots of time to explore the characters, time period, alien world, etc. It wouldn't...

The Fantastic Four: First Steps - Official Teaser Trailer (2025)

I have avoided trailers and spots after the first couple trailers, and I am really invested in seeing how this whole Galactus/Franklin/switching-universe/timelines thing plays out.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps - Official Teaser Trailer (2025)

I loved Thunderbolts, to a degree that I haven't enjoyed an MCU movie in several years now. On top of that, it's arguably the first MCU movie that's overtly about something, with focused, layered metaphors from start to finish.

Could an American write Doctor Who? - Babylon 5 creator throws hat in the ring

This is one of the big question now, or at least part of the big question. A streamer that wants to give the BBC money in exchange for streaming rights of whatever new Who they make would, you would think, also want all the new Who since 2005, if not classic Who as well.

    Spoilers Superman Spoiler Thread

If Corenswet's portrayal wasn't so human-ized/ing, Gathegi might have stolen this movie. I think Gunn said he did this because no one names a company using their first name. Although it's easy to imagine Lex doing so.

D&D General What if we gave dragonborn four arms?

I don't have any problem with giving them four arms and actual wings, as long as there are limitations on what they can do with the extra arms and with the wings. Maybe that scales with level, which isn't something that Wizards does, but it's something I like.

Green Ronin Crowdfunding Legal Defense Fund In Fight Against Diamond Distrubutors

I get what you're saying and (I think) why. However, the garage-band nature of ttrpgs plus the digital age we live in has created a glorious glut/bounty of games, and of course there's no real way to stop or prevent that. There's something about the reach and niche-ability of our digital world...

Dungeons & Dragons Shifts to Franchise Model, Dan Ayoub Named as Head

My impression is the opposite - the lack of synergy there frustrates me, or at least leaves me scratching my head. They might change some costumes, change a team line-up for a bit, feature a villain in a storyline, miniseries, or crossover, but that's about it. Maybe that's what you mean. It's...

Very thoughtful of Galactus to have removable helmet fins, for the convenience of the people right behind him in the theater.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps - Official Teaser Trailer (2025)

Luckily, I don't like to eat in a movie theater, so I'm not tempted in general or by these premiums. If I eat in a theater, it winds up distracting me from the immersive experience I go to the theater for. That's just my brain being my brain, and I'm a bit envious of people who can do that.

    Show your game prep notes

A friend of mine says that one night his only game prep note for the session was "sexy goblin?" They had stuff prepped from the previous session's prep, they're good at improv, but felt they needed something in their notes and decided off the top of their head that they wanted to work in a sexy...

Defy the Gods was already on my shortlist, because I love new takes on sword & sorcery. I'd almost forgotten about it, though! If Cloud Curio's Book of Wyrms is anything like their Monstrous book, it will be a must-have for anyone who wants to flesh out their dragons.

RPG CROWDFUNDING NEWS – Castles & Crusades, Fragged Kingdom, Tabletop Inn, and more

I'm intrigued by how people keeping coming up with new takes on vampires, what they are, why they exist, why they do what they do, how they do it, etc. Vampires as a thing in culture is really interesting. People eating other people is not something I want to watch, and a vampire draining life...
