Asking myself "Why?" about gaming lately...

Nowadays, gaming is a good outlet for me to hang out with my old college friends. We still have fun, but I think gaming is secondary to just being with my friends.

    D&D bonanza!!

Gaming bonanza for all! With anyluck, I'll have at least 3 or 4 games this weekend. It's our group's semi-annual BlagaCon(TM) 2002. Basically it's my old college group sitting around trading one-liners and making a meager attempt at gaming...heck, we might even roll some dice before the...

    "THIS does only 1d4 damage?!"

I'm in the same camp as PD. A higher level character (fighters in particular) are used to taking grievous wounds and able to shrug off the more meager attacks (such as dagger strikes) without much ado. I also follow the general rule that a higher level character would be adapt in directing...

    How to punish stealing PC's?

If this situation were to happen in my campaign, the thief would have a new enemy to deal with. And since he was robbed blind and rendered nearly defenseless (his is 8th afterall), I would have the offending character running for their lives being completely (and justly) paranoid of every hill...

    What D&D character are you?

A NE (swaying towards TN) human thief. That's about right.

    RPG shops in Washington?

Where's your conference in D.C.? I can tell you some good places to go without you having to waste what little time you have outside of the conference.

    RPG shops in Washington?

Tangentially...if you're looking for pubs: I'd recommend either Ireland's Four Provinces (known to most as the 4 P's, it's uptown but about a 2 minute walk...or stagger to the subway) or on the other side of town (near Capitol Hill) The Dubliner or in midtown Kelly's Irish Times. If you...

    Roleplaying Low Int. Suggestions?

Erm...yeah, that's why I wasn't a math major and stayed with history and german. When I grow up, I want to go to Bovine University! Ok, so she'd still have a -1, but that's a heckuvalot better than -2. In lieu of that and if you're not playing the stereotypic chain mail bikini babe, lower...

    Roleplaying Low Int. Suggestions?

A score of "7" is only a -1 in regards to gameplay, which really isn't that bad. Sure, you're getting doubly screwed on skillpoints (#1, you're a fighter #2, SP are based on your INT mod) but a fighter's skills are usually overlooked in lieu of their ability to gain many feats early in the game...

    Playing Monks

Actually, it was the DM who gave the monk his gauntlet...so I'm thinking it's kosher. :)

    Playing Monks

The monk has a better listen check the rogue I'm currently playing. Of course, his WIS is 3 or 4pts higher than mine too. :) The monk can always be a secondary scout when the rogue is otherwise unavailable (ie. itemless at the bottom of a pit with only two daggers as his means of escape and...

    RPG shops in Washington?

The one mile hike (IMO) is not worth the time or effort to get to. I mean, if you're a hardcore gamer desperate for a fix while you're away from home..ok. But if you were just curious and were just planning on stopping by to take a looksee, spend your time taking in the sights and scenes in...

    RPG shops in Washington?

Despite the fact that Washington D.C. being a great city, there is a large void where a good gaming store should be. There are no gaming stores in the immediate downtown area. The only gaming store that has readily available public transportation (subway) to it is the WotC store in the mall at...

    Roleplaying Low Int. Suggestions?

Slingblade anyone? *not trolling* "Some call it a kaiser blade, but I call it a slingblade. I reckon I like those french-fried potaters." :)

    Playing Monks

I would suggest that you get some sort of spiked/enchanted gauntlet at the first available opportunity. We have a monk in our Scarred Lands campaign and while he's no fighter, the flurry of blows using an enchanted gauntlet kicks butt. Also, give the monk a missle weapon. If they'res nothing...

Any talk of a Spycraft SRD?

Moot points aside...all of this later commentary comes after over a month of solid sales! How was I (or anyone else for that matter) to know how brisk the sales would be? I'd say there's no need for an SRD now since everyone (and probably their grandmother) has it. I had a friend by it sight...

    Battlemap Stain

Ack...reds, yellows, oranges are the deathknell of an vinyl map. For some strange reason, any of those colors (as opposed to more conceivable darker colors?) have an adverse effect on them. The border of my friend's map from many, many years ago still has written (in red) "Ryan Davis is a...
