    Home-Grown Critical Effect Rules

I am concerned about one thing. Both Bruiser's system and the one I use involve the save-vs.-damage mechanic. It seems to work decently at low levels, but I'm wondering how well that is going to work when characters reach higher levels. Something tells me that those saving throws will fail a...

    Home-Grown Critical Effect Rules

I have been using a similar kind of rule regarding critical hits. I even use the same mechanic of a saving throw against the damage amount. There are some significant differences of course. Here's my rule: All critical hit “threats” are critical hits; that is, no second roll is necessary...

    Proposed feat: Whip Mastery

There's almost no way to make the whip overpowered, so I can't see any problem with this feet.

Is it harder to be a DM in a high-level campaign?

In my experience as a DM, we always start out at level 1, and usually the characters die or the group fizzles out before the PCs get beyond level 7. That probably doesn't say much for me as a DM, but in any case . . . Isn't it hard to control the setting when players become so powerful that...

    Prestiege Class: Noldorin Mage

Did you really mean to not give a +1 spell level at level 8? Other than that, I like the flavor a lot. But it does seem too powerful. I can't think of a single reason a wizard would not want to take this prestige class. That's a problem. There should be some trade off.

    D&D price lists

What I want is something like "And a 1- ft. pole" that I can download for free! :D There was a list of random extraneous goods, with prices that I once had a link to, but I lost it. I don't think it was an alternative to the PHB prices though. It was more of a supplementary list.

    D&D price lists

So . . . why don't you suggest an alternative list? I'd love to adopt it!

By the book or house rules?

Pardon the digression . . . but I would be very interested in seeing these alternate versions of paladin, ranger and bard. I too have thought about dumping the spells from the paladin and ranger classes. But as for the bard, I've actually entertained the notion of making him MORE of a...

    A non-spellcasting Ranger, with d10 hit die

Thanks Technik4. I like your suggestions a lot, and I think I may use them. Krbrunn's criticism is duly noted. The only reason to make a skill rank requirement would be to weaken the ability somewhat--but that may not be necessary. As a side note, I think the reason for making the bardic...

    A non-spellcasting Ranger, with d10 hit die

Why should a ranger be casting spells anyway??! I propose a very simple variation on the 3.5 ranger: 1. Remove the spells. 2. Restore hit die to d10. 3. Add "Secrets of the Wild" at fourth level. SECRETS OF THE WILD [Class feature, ranger] By studying the ways of wild animals...

D&D 3.x 3.5 Ranger but with d10. How to balance?

That link doesn't seem to be working, Galethorn. .................... Still hoping to get some comments on this: 1. Drop all spells 2. Boost HD to d10. 3. Add Secrets of the Wild. SECRETS OF THE WILD [Class feature, ranger] By studying the ways of wild animals, rangers can learn a few...

D&D 3.x 3.5 Ranger but with d10. How to balance?

Jens raised a valid point: that removing the spells and boosting the HD makes the class stronger at lower levels. What about something along these lines as a remedy? SECRETS OF THE WILD [Class feature, ranger] Rangers study the ways of wild animals so well that they can learn a few of...

Know of any Alternative Bard classes?

I'd really like to see a bard that is based more on the historical bards of the celts. I don't suppose it exists, but if anyone could point me to ANY alternative bards, I would be very interested.

What if you make bonuses from adamantine and magic stack?

Glad to hear that it works fine. But what I really want to know is how did it change the feel of the game?

What if you make bonuses from adamantine and magic stack?

When you say "cost multiplier", what do you mean exactly? Part of the basic idea was to make it cheaper to get a high AC.

    What is a siangham?

NoOneOfConsequence and Havilor seem to know their stuff. Thanks guys. You've redeemed this weapon for me.

What if you make bonuses from adamantine and magic stack?

What effects would this have on the system? Certainly, it would protract combat encounters. Would it do so too much? Would it make armor more significant and interesting? Would it add "flavor"? (The idea came to me because I don't like the feel of combat where there are too many hits. I...

D&D 3.x 3.5 Ranger but with d10. How to balance?

So, if I just drop the spells, would that be unbalanced? If I err on one side or the other, I would rather it be a weaker class than a stronger one.

    What is a siangham?

Yeah, I know there's a picture of it in the PHB, but how exactly is it used? Is it anything like a dagger?

D&D 3.x 3.5 Ranger but with d10. How to balance?

Keep in mind everyone that the difference between d8 and d10 is only an average of one HP per level. That's really not that much.
