Why are things immune to crits?

I don't like this for three reasons: 1) I don't think armor of fortification is balanced to begin with. It single-handedly nerfs a rogue, regardless of said rogue's level. 2) If we go ahead and assume that Fortification is balanced, a 5th level caster cannot buy Armor of Heavy Fortification...

Why are things immune to crits?

AARRRRGGGHHHHHH!!! The Miniatures Handbook has the bane of my existence: Living Undeath! BLEH! A 2nd level cleric spell. Second level! Makes you immune to criticals and sneak attacks. Lasts 1 min/level! Only detriment is a lousy -4 Chr. Oh frickin well...so what? You are immune to crits...

Why are things immune to crits?

My only problem with creatures immune to critical hits is that it makes playing a rogue boring during any fight versus these creatures. I'm playing a svirfneblin rogue right now, and everytime there is anything undead I fall asleep. My 8 strength combined with a katar +1 means I do a lousy 1d4...

    Nontraditional Mystic Theurge combo...

Hate to nitpick, but it's the shugenja that casts with Charisma. The Shaman still uses Wisdom. But your point is still valid with the sorcerer/shugenja multiclass (especially water focused shugenja.)

PCs who kill everyone that attacks them

It's funny, this exact issue came up a couple of months ago with a newbie DM during the second game session: She had three evil foes teleport in and attack our group. We slew two of them, and disabled the third, who we promptly tied up. Then we healed him, interrogated him, and quickly slew...

PCs who kill everyone that attacks them

My characters generally kill disabled and captured foes. Reasons why: 1) Anyone who is coming at me with a pointy stick with the intent to cause bodily harm deserves to die, regardless of whether or not I relieve them of the pointy stick. (This is one of the reasons why abstract hit points in...

Simple Question on Huge Daggers and Tiny Longswords

This is the worst thing about the new system. There isn't a way to get rid of the -2 penalty. (A million dollars says that there will be a feat in the Complete Warrior that will do just that. Make us shell out another thirty dollars when it should have been core. *grumble*) ;)

My Forge of Fury players-stay out!!

Nightscale was difficult for the party I ran through the Forge, but not unbeatable. They eventually dropped him to 3 hps. (He then fled and will be the bad guy in their next adventure. I plan to level him with a couple levels of blackguard. Mwhahaha...)

    Sultans of Smack

Add in one level of the Mindbender PrC (if allowed in 3.5) and a ring of invisibility. The enemy doesn't know that you're physically present, and you can talk to any creature within 100ft. that has a language.

What's a good high-charisma build? Or, can Bards be useful?

Yes. I was sad the campaign imploded, too. Skill focus: Diplomacy at level 3 was going to be neat. You ask as if you have never used Presence or Dominate... . . . At high levels, I would be a god. Literally. One level of mindbender and a ring of invisibility: "The voices in my head tell me...

What's a good high-charisma build? Or, can Bards be useful?

Forgive me, for I have sinned: I played 3.5 with a newbie DM and a newbie group. They were playing barbarians and fighters and clerics and lots o' damage dealing characters. My character was a half-elven bard. I had a +19 to Diplomacy checks by level 2. :) P.S. I was going to take one...

    Are most Wizards Diviners now?

I dunno, an extra Divination spell per level, and having to spend extra gold on good spells OR an extra spell of any other school, while spending gold on nifty munchkin items. Seems pretty balanced to me. ;)

    Are most Wizards Diviners now?

The reason why I think most wizards won't be diviners is because half of their free spells per level would have to go to learning Divination spells.

What can you do with Diplomacy?

Yup, anything that works for the good guys should also work for the bad guys. Rules Hypocrisy is a very bad idea, IMHO. (The mindbender PrC gets past that annoying silence spell. Telepathic speech with any creature that speaks a language at 100 ft. at level one. Plus, if the Courtier's Obi is...

Anyone run campaigns with "less than good" characters?

I'm currently running a Sabbat (WoD) game. Everyone is a Brujah pack member. We've been playing for about a half a year now. We had one player who stopped playing because he didn't like playing an evil character. (He also hated Presence and Dominate. I think it was more of his reluctance to...

What can you do with Diplomacy?

If you guys think Diplomacy is bad, try Presence or Dominate. ;) (My personal house rule: Diplomacy works as written, except it can also work on PCs. Same DCs.)
