Honestly, I find Dragon Heist both terrible and great. The adventure itself, IMHO, is terrible. Linear, stupid and boring. I would never run it. The book, however, is filled to the brim with ideas, characters, locations and maps. Using the remix from The Alexandrian and adding plenty of my own...

K Yes, that's the point I was trying to make. The rules on p. 103 appear to contradict the stipulation that you need a safe place to get a shift rest. If you manage the bushcraft roll, the rules there simply that you get the benefit of a shift rest.

Yes, I thought that, like in other games, you could sleep in "uncomfortable" conditions without getting the benefits of a full rest (which is basically a full recovery) but also without accruing the penalties for lack of sleep.

But is it not possible to sleep and not get a shift rest? I liked the idea of only getting a shift rest in a safe place, but maybe that would be too harsh even for Dragonbane.

If I'm reading the rules right, in the wilderness if the bushcraft roll is failed, a character can't effectively sleep. This seems a bit harsh. On the other hand, if the roll succeeds, then the character gains the benefits of a shift rest (unless interrupted) It seems that this precludes the...

Sad news. From what I know, Froideval did not co-write OA with Gygax. His draft was not really used by Zeb Cook who wrote the actual published book almost from scratch.
