D&D 5E (2024) How do we feel about 2024 Feats? (Origin vs Others)

This is what I think they did the best job at. The strongest feats were reined in and there is a wider array of feats that could be considered top tier depending on the build. What they didn't entirely fix is that there are still a handful of crappy useless feats (much less than before though)...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Magic Items, Crafting, Etc

I didn't say "not enough" I just said weak. Rogues are not designed for high damage they're designed for high non-combat utility at the expense of damage. I agree they are fine, even with this method of obtaining two sneak attacks per round.

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Magic Items, Crafting, Etc

This isn't new, it's just another way to get two sneak attacks per round, which people have been doing forever. Also, other Rogue subclasses can easily do two sneak attacks as well, it's not like this is some unique Thief capability I suspect this will become popular since it's easy and...

D&D 5E (2024) How do we feel about 2024 Feats? (Origin vs Others)

My opinions: Origin feats are generally much weaker than General feats, which totally makes sense since they're available at Level 1 General Feats are much better balanced than in 2014 but there's still plenty of variation in power to fuel a million Tier List videos Fighting Style Feats are...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Magic Items, Crafting, Etc

If you use Enspelled Weapon to enchant your bow with Truestrike then a Thief subclass can use the magic item as a bonus action to have it cast Truestrike (on your turn). Then you use the ready action to attack as a reaction on the next person's turn. People were previously arguing that it...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Magic Items, Crafting, Etc

The book states that for any given item, the DM determines whether the appropriate raw materials are available. So you can easily ban and allow items at your discretion by gating when those "appropriate raw materials" show up in your world. I'll definitely be utilizing these rules but leaning...

    D&D 5E (2024) Firearms in the Forgotten Realms (+)

Great question and I'm not the most useful there - I'm pretty good at assessing how a proposed homebrew option would be judged versus existing options from a powergaming perspective, but not that great at coming up with my own homebrew ideas. I've actually tried to homebrew my own additional...

D&D 5E (2024) Do players really want balance?

Well apparently here, "balance" means "risk of characters dying in combat". Don't ask me why, that's not at all what I would define "balance" to mean, but these forums are a weird place sometimes

    D&D 5E (2024) Firearms in the Forgotten Realms (+)

I don't see any particular issues with your designs but overall I'd say these weapons are on the weak side compared to what is already available, so you may find that players just ignore them unless they value the flavor over powerful game mechanics: Blunderbuss does gain 0.5 average damage...

D&D 5E (2024) Do players really want balance?

Nerfing Sneak Attack would not be balancing things. Rogues already do weak damage with 2 sneak attacks per round. If WotC nerfed sneak attack but buffed damage elsewhere to compensate then THAT would've been balancing things, and I'll bet you it would've been popular (much like Stunning Strike...

D&D Movie/TV DADHAT becomes Netflix Global Hit

It also sure didn't help that it released shortly after the OGL debacle so it had much less support from big DnD fans than it otherwise would've. Wasn't as much word of mouth praise when many of the biggest fans weren't too keen on singing even the slightest praise of WotC

D&D 5E (2024) PHB 2024 Is Hilariously Broken. Most OP of All Time?

I think you're being sarcastic but in all seriousness this is what the majority of tables do, by ending their campaigns before those level spells are castable

    D&D 5E (2024) Warcaster Cheesy Fondue 2024

There is a long list of egregious misses in the 2024 PHB that WotC was clearly aware of (presuming they paid the slightest attention to UA feedback), and that they haven't addressed yet. This doesn't mean they actually intended to make those changes. For whatever reason, WotC's standard...

    D&D 5E (2024) Warcaster Cheesy Fondue 2024

Fluff text gives us an indication (perhaps falsely) about what they intended the rules to be. Personally I think they did remove the word Hostile by accident, or more precisely it wasn't literally an "accident" but I think they removed it thinking that the word was not required and didn't catch...

    D&D 5E (2024) Warcaster Cheesy Fondue 2024

This is exactly why I think WotC dropped the term from the 2024 rules, and then I think they just missed the interaction that War Caster would then allow buffing spells to be cast on allies. You could probably argue that this was technically always possible with 2014 rules by stretching the...

D&D 5E (2024) Pact of the Blade + Shadow Blade?

It's definitely strong, especially if your combats tend to last several turns, or if your DM telegraphs incoming combat enough to reliable get Shadow Blade cast before combat. I wouldn't call it busted though, at best it's similar to Conjure Minor Elementals without the insane scaling

    D&D 5E (2024) Warcaster Cheesy Fondue 2024

Rules As Written, this seems to be the case yes. Verdict is still out on Rules As Intended until someone from WotC chimes in. As always, the ruling at each table will be determined by the DM. This does not work at my table because I think it is just an oversight in the wording. I may change...

    D&D 5E (2024) Abusing True Strike 2024

I don't follow - how does True Strike give a Warlock the effects of Extra Attack scaling up to three attacks?

    D&D 5E (2024) Abusing True Strike 2024

It also works great on Valor Bards, Eldritch Knights, and Bladesingers since they can use True Strike as one of their Extra Attacks. Also another way to get the spell is being a High Elf I don't see how any of this is "abusing true strike" though. It's a good spell that some classes will...

D&D 5E (2024) Scoring abilities of 2024 Species (and looking back to MotM)

"Build-defining" could be a stretch depending on what that term means to you, but there are so many options to choose that are really good, so it's pretty easy to find one that at least really helps round out your build: Cloud is probably the best to build around. Multiple Misty Steps per day...
