    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 2024 Rules Oddities (Kibbles’ Collected Complaints)

Throw in Longstrider spell, Haste spell, Boots of Speed, Tabaxi race (if allowed), and this scales to an absurd degree

D&D 5E (2024) How extensive (if any) will be the PHB errata?

It's just confusing on its own, where understanding it requires parsing the phrasing in both the Nick property and Light property, and then it can have even more complex nuances when you pair it with Extra Attack, Dual Wielder feat, Two-Weapon Fighting fighting style, Action Surge, Haste spell...

D&D 5E (2024) How extensive (if any) will be the PHB errata?

Nick property is going to require an entire document on its own

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Spell Changes

Without going thru the math specifically, you probably aren't missing anything. Even if what you wrote is wrong somewhere, there's probably another way to do even more damage with Conjure Minor Elementals - the scaling is super busted and WotC was asleep at the wheel when they let it thru.

D&D 5E (2024) Learning to Love the Background System

There is nothing good about only having 16 possible backgrounds and not allowing customization. The only way to be Tough is to be a Farmer that specializes in Animal Handling and Nature? There's literally no other way to be Tough? And Farmers cannot boost Dex, Int, or Cha because obviously...

D&D 5E (2024) With Nick Weapon mastery do both weapons need to be nick to use it or only the first or only the 2nd?

That article answers nothing about the edge cases of Action Surge or the Haste spell where you get a second Attack Action. It answers RAW about a single Attack Action (without Extra Attack), and not getting 3 attacks out of it. I think we are all clear on this fact that the Light property only...

D&D General House Rules ideas - Ability Score vs Modifier

I hate how odd numbered stats are useless, so the homebrew rule I use is that Saving Throw modifiers round UP for (Score-10)/2, while all the other existing mechanics continue to to round down. This ends up being a relatively minor impact, at most you gain +1 on some saving throws. But it sure...

D&D 5E (2024) Two Weapon Fighting and Nick article

WotC going out of their way to give more depth to Martial classes (instead of only giving complex gameplay to Casters) seems to generally be overwhelmingly popular. I don't see anyone here taking offense at your honest question, but you aren't going to get many people agreeing with any take...

D&D 5E (2024) Two Weapon Fighting and Nick article

The DM can obviously ban whatever they want, but as a player I'd be pretty annoyed at DM specifically targeting martials to nerf them, and would need to consider whether that's really a table I want to play at. Do you also ban Open Hand Monks and Battlemaster Fighters? They've always been able...

D&D General Making sure everyone can play D&D

Definitely the biggest barrier right here. Better tools to find in person groups is what I would love to see

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Spell Changes

Do you get a saving throw to avoid being grappled? I thought the saving throw was only as an Action on your turn to escape the grapple (which you already just wouldn't bother doing if you wanted to be grappled) I might be remembering the early playtest rules, I forget whether it got changed...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Spell Changes

It's not a saving throw to avoid being grappled, it's an attack roll by the grappler. Seems like you ought to be able to say you want to let them grapple you, but I'm not sure if that's actually RAW Anyways, seems like a bunch of work to do FAR less damage than you could do by just casting...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 2024 Player's Handbook Reviews

They can pretty easily both be correct. Pace of play depends almost entirely on the particular players and DM at the table, so one table may say that X speeds things up while another table that same thing could slow the game to a crawl. Makes it pretty pointless to debate about really, other...

D&D 5E (2024) We can still get Bard, Paladin, Warlock, Ranger and Sorcerer spells through Fey Touched?

I'd assume they meant all General Feats have +1 ability boosts now, which is true.

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 PHB/DMG/MM art/layout: like or dislike?

I LOVE the art layout, for the most part. My eyes can only handle so much text on a page without some color, so I am a big fan of the art being dominant, being highly present, and screaming from the page (to borrow your words above that I agree with other than I view them as a positive rather...

    D&D 5E (2024) Rules that annoy you

The new rules state that "the DM decides when circumstances are appropriate for hiding", so Rules As Written provide plenty of justification for the DM to adjudicate any gray areas as they see fit without being restricted by hard and fast rules Not that the DM is ever restricted by the rules...

D&D 5E (2024) With Nick Weapon mastery do both weapons need to be nick to use it or only the first or only the 2nd?

Ok yeah I don't agree with that at all. If the wording was referring to the extra attack of the Light property, it would've been written in the text for the Light property, not under the Nick property. "This extra attack" is referring to the free Nick attack How in the world did such...

D&D 5E (2024) With Nick Weapon mastery do both weapons need to be nick to use it or only the first or only the 2nd?

Please parse out an explanation of how the wording in the book that says this. I'm not trying to be pedantic here, the wording is very confusing Light states "When you take the Attack action on your turn, you can make one extra attack as a bonus action later in the same turn", which Nick then...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Player's Handbook Video Redactions & Takedowns

    a) You say this like they're avoiding slippery slope by acting early, when in reality they're more like a lifeguard blowing a whistle at an incoming tsunami. WotC can do or say whatever they want, they are not going to become the first company in existence to magically stop internet piracy b)...

    D&D 5E (2024) Rules that annoy you

My new pet peeve with the new rules is grapple + spike growth cheese grater builds. These existed before and were annoying, but they are going to explode in popularity with grappling becoming so much easier and Grappler feat doubling the cheese grater damage (by no longer cutting movement...
