    Free A Minimalist Fantasy Affair

A Minimalist Fantasy Affair is a 2-page fantasy RPG inspired by the PbtA system and the Original (1974) RPG. It's short, simple, and the text is released under a Creative Commons license. Plus it's free (although I'd love it if you donated a few $$$)...

Black Company RPG sneak peak at KamCon!

I liked it enough that I released a compiled errata document for it (designed to be pasted onto the end covers of the book).

Black Company RPG sneak peak at KamCon!

I'm very excited for this RPG. Green Ronin did okay with what they had, but I feel that choosing to use the d20 STL hamstrung that iteration of the Black Company RPG.

What Lost, Abandoned or Short Lived TTRPG would you like to see get a re-issue and new support?

A new "Redux" edition. Now in full color, new original art, the classic rules clarified and updated, new content, etc.

What Lost, Abandoned or Short Lived TTRPG would you like to see get a re-issue and new support?

Periphery was, I think, the first science fiction RPG I bought with my own money. Purchased because some local yokels published it (I lived one town over from Lawrence and wanted to support local creators even back then). Age of Empires, though, is probably my favorite RPG system (I also like...

What Lost, Abandoned or Short Lived TTRPG would you like to see get a re-issue and new support?

Eh. He put out a lot of d20 shovelware that was, I think, pretty mediocre. But he was hardly alone in that regard, in fairness. Everybody was clamoring to get onboard that d20 gravy train for several years. His original designs are, I'll admit, much better.

A new edition of this was somewhat recently successfully Kickstarted by Palladium.

I just somewhat recently acquired a copy of that, but haven't had a chance to read it yet.

What Lost, Abandoned or Short Lived TTRPG would you like to see get a re-issue and new support?

I would love to see a new edition of Iron Heroes, or at least a game in that mold with swords versus sorcery, where mighty thews rule the day and magic is a dark, tainted, force favored only by those corrupted by its power (NPC villains to be thwarted). Not just a S&S RPG. We have plenty of those.

TSR Why would anyone WANT to play 1e?

For me, the big thing is the objectively terrible organization of the DMG which, unfortunately, contains a considerable amount of the core rules necessary to play the game. The thing is a complete mess, which is why I love OSRIC and Hyperborea so much. They're simply better rendered versions of...

    D&D General 6E But A + Thread

Jared Sinclair's 6e (and its many fan-created supplements). It was fabulous. I say "was" because following some controversy he apparently pulled it from sale. Anyhow, it didn't resemble any edition of D&D mechanically, but it delivered all of the core things that D&D does, simply with a...

What Lost, Abandoned or Short Lived TTRPG would you like to see get a re-issue and new support?

I've had eyes on the manuscript and it's an absolute masterwork. Very evocative and the way that it adapts the Forged in the Dark rules to the setting is great. I can't wait to play it!

What Lost, Abandoned or Short Lived TTRPG would you like to see get a re-issue and new support?

Age of Empire by Epitaph Studios. I'm not a fan of the designer, but I love Victorian Age adventure and the system is great (very fluid, very simple).

Have You Used The X Card Or Seen It Used In Person?

Having intimate sex scenes fade to black. To be fair, if the other player hadn't used it for this, I probably would have. It's one of very few things I don't like to have described in detail when I play games (the other, of course, is sexual assault).

Have You Used The X Card Or Seen It Used In Person?

I've seen it used in public games (e.g. convention games). I specifically address its use as a "back up" to lines and veils in the game I'm currently authoring (Black Aegis, formerly The Conspiracy).

Free Front Range FKR (2nd iteration, still free!)

Thanks! Yes, but with more guidance for the referee than many FKR efforts. In fact, it's mostly referee guidance. Just basic stuff, but also stuff that I feel is the meat and potatoes of running a successful game. The rules are, as one would expect, very, very, basic.

Other D&D Variant Domain play, what, if anything, do you use?

Mechanically, no. BUT the authors needlessly redefined almost every bit of standard RPG terminology within its pages, making reading it a real chore. It took me literal years to finally get through all of it. It was a true endurance test. I knew that it would be worth it, though (it won an...
