    Tabletop Game Night...Online?

Here's the link to the maptools tutorials: http://www.rptoolstutorials.net/maptool.htm Good stuff in there... Myself I game in a Dark Heresy Game online using Fantasy Grounds once a week... at the moment its all the gaming I have but it works real well.

    Green Ronin and 4E

Why wouldn't KenzerCo "get away with it"? They published 2e compatible books and had no issues. If you don't sign on to the GSL it has no hold over you. Publish within the bounds of copyright law and you are safe. In KenzerCo's case, I do believe one of the principle owners is a copyright...

Desperate times, desperate measures, I need help people, please.

Well, there's 25 bucks i won't spend frivolously on this hobby... then again, indirectly, I'm supporting someone that enhances my hobby... in any case, hope it helps... even us "Uncivil Servants" can be civil on occasions ;)

Kalamar - first published 4e setting?!?

KenzerCo went this route back when 2E was out. There were no repercussions. I think they know what they are doing at this point. They aren't the first to avoid the GSL and assuredly will not be the last.

Mainpage broken - pleaze fix or do somefink

hmmm... claiming something is broken when it isnt is a bit beyond crass. You have a suggestion as to how others may do something differently then they are now. See, isn't that nicer and more accurate then your thread title?

    D&D Intiative...Master Tools 2008?

Wow, that's a blast from the past... well, recent past. Looked promising, took my money, then just... faded away. the DDI hasn't taken my money yet ;)

    Abandoning 4th Ed for True20.

From my (limited) experience True20 doesnt do heroic fantasy very well. Best of luck with it tho'.

Goodman is clearly going to the GSL.

i believe the DCCs are published under the D20 license, not the OGL.

Goodman is clearly going to the GSL.

DCCs are published under the D20 license, not OGL. D20 license expired end of June. Selloff lasts till the end of 2008. Might as well get what you can for them now before having to retcon them to OGL or convert them to 4e.

Goodman is clearly going to the GSL.

I think if Goodman was going GSL or had a separate license it would have been announced. This looks more like a D20 sell off to me.

    Death of the LGS

I might have to make that trip one day. You left out the Complete Strategist... where old games go to die... stuff that was old and out of print 25 years ago can still be found... cramped, nasty place with no "friendly" at all. Oh, and no place to game.

    Death of the LGS

I live in NYC and I've yet to find a FLGS in the area... there are LGSs, but they are far from friendly. So if my gaming dollars help employ friendly people and /or support a company with better prices in another part of the country that's great in my opinion. People seem to confuse FLGS with...

Is a popular non-D&D traditional fantasy RPG possible?

So successful that Games Workshop farmed it and it's sibling (40k) out to a third party? It might be popular (apparently more so in Europe then in the US) but the profits apparently weren't there. Yes, I know Dark Heresy sold out immediately (i own it and play in a weekly campaign). I still...

    DDI: What adventures?

I would hope for the same excitement that I get at my dining room table. I'm in a steady Dark Heresy campaign as a player using Fantasy Grounds 2, so I know Virtual Table Tops can drive a heavy "Role" playing game style. What I really want from the DDI is access to an expanded player bases...

Is a popular non-D&D traditional fantasy RPG possible?

White Wolf has possession of the biggest crumb ;) That being said, when Vampire the Masquerade first hit the market I believe it expanded the RPG market. It wasn't aimed at the average DnD player, it was Goth and Anne Rice and oh so dark. It found itself a new market. For a new game to come...

    Players Vs. DMs

Well, I'm glad you got something out of it. :) A quick comment: you may have gotten the wrong feedback from your POV in part due to your thread title. "Players Vs. DM" has people entering the thread with the bias that this is about a Player / DM Power struggle of sorts. What you probably...

    Players Vs. DMs

There was no flaming in your direction, at least not from me. Clarifying your statements? That i did. Mention when I had a campaign go bad and why it went bad? Guilty. As for my mental capacity and my apparently one track mind... :p

Is a popular non-D&D traditional fantasy RPG possible?

Roleplaying is a niche hobby. DnD owns that niche. All other games fight for the crumbs. A new game, to be even 25% as successful as DnD would actually have to expand the niche that Roleplaying now holds. You aren't going to be stealing gamers from DnD, and there is a limited amount of cash...
