    Talent Trees & D&D

Talent trees aren't an additional system, they're an alternate way of handling class abilities, and exist alongside feats in the same way. The argument can be made that having both feats and class abilities is already redundant, but talent trees just maintain the redundancy, not introduce it.

AoO: How are they so confusing?!

Okay, but... This is just asking for it!

    Microsoft Surface. Wow!

Of course, this would mean that before you can run any encounter, large amounts of data have to be entered into the system, and you become limited by what the software has been programmed to handle (no new spells or classes, for example.) It would also be very difficult to create an interface...

    Microsoft Surface. Wow!

It's not that it's completely new, it's that it's a huge step closer to becoming a consumer product.

AoO: How are they so confusing?!

There's also the problem with some players having an irrational fear of attacks of opportunity, and refusing to take any action that might trigger one. I can't explain it, but I've seen it in action more than once.

Monte Cooks WoD is for 3.5

Kinda weird to review and reject a rules system before you have any idea what it will involve. You noticed that these issues would exist just through casual observation of the product's subject matter - do you really think the people who worked on it for months aren't smart enough to figure it...

Monte Cooks WoD is for 3.5

This would be pretty cool, I think. And it brings up a good point- we don't even know what the setting IS, exactly, so it's way to soon declare that d20 isn't right for it.

DM Burnout or DM Frustration With His Players?

I've had equally poor luck trying to get my players to participate in any out-of-game-session activities. And judging by what I've read on message boards, this is completely normal, and there's not much that can be done about it. Players just usually aren't as invested in the game as the DM...

Monte Cooks WoD is for 3.5

"Revised 3rd Edition Rules" is code for "OGL-based game that doesn't use the d20 license." (usually so that character creation rules can be included.)

    28 Weeks Later [spoilers aplenty]

You're only finding plot holes here in a scenario you've created yourself, not with anything that happened in the film. We don't have any idea exactly what happened between when the helicopter picked up the kids and the final scene, or even how much time has passed. Any number of events could...

    28 Weeks Later [spoilers aplenty]

Not quite. The writer -and director- of 28 Days Later were definitely on board for 28 Weeks Later, as the executive producers. It was still their project, but I don't know why they handed off the writing and directing this time around.

Is there anything cooler than a character sheet printed on crinkly, yellow parchment?

What version of D&D is that character sheet for?

    28 Weeks Later

Is "mutant survival" really an established film genre? I've never heard the term before. What are other examples? Personally, if I had to describe 28 Days/Weeks Later to someone who had never heard of them before, I'd have a hard time not using the word "zombie" at some point.

    28 Weeks Later

Not that's there's any helping your suspension-of-disbelief impairment, but if the laws of biology work differently in the movie than they do for us, isn't that proof that it's set in an "alternate universe"? Specifically, it's set in an alternate universe where the rage virus is both...

    OotS 449

The hypothetical OotS DM is displaying poor DMing skills again... The PCs have been reduced to a side note while the uber-powerful NPCs duke it out!

Liz Schuh on Dragon/Dungeon moving to the web

Actually, you could be up and running TRS-80 software in a matter of minutes, if you really wanted to. (http://www.trs-80.com/) For old Dragon content, no such option exists unless you happen to have an archive in your basement. No, it's silly to insist that one format is somehow universally...

Pathfinder 1E @$#&!! My Funny Bone!!!: Critical Hit Cards from Paizo

I just bought yesterday, and it does look pretty cool. I use an action point mechanic, and am considering letting players spend an action point to draw a card, even if the hit wasn't critical.

Liz Schuh on Dragon/Dungeon moving to the web

I don't think you are applying "similar care" to both formats. "Care" for digital information would involve converting it to new formats as they become available- not letting it sit for 20 years before you try to access it. Obviously, paper and digital storage each have a completely different...
