    Kobold Skirmisher

Yeah, so far as I know there's only two effects of bloodied: You can tell if a monster is bloodied or not by looking (thus giving DMs a handy way to answer when the player says, 'Which one looks most hurt?'), and it makes you targettable by an array of special abilities, both beneficial and...

    Kobold Skirmisher

Yeah, exactly! And sticking a spear in you while you're trying to disable the damn thing... In 4e traps are meant to be encounter-duration traps, which replace a monster and can be disabled during combat (like killing a monster). In other words, these guys are designed to be inside the danger...

    Healing Surge: My theory

That's a good point. If you're limited to eight or ten Surges and there's a number of effects that can provide non-surge healing, that makes those secondary healing effects more valuable. If the Surge effects follow the SWSE second-wind rules, then it'll heal you by 1/4 of your max HP. On one...

    Healing Surge: My theory

Thus my comment in the original post: The downside of that is, we don't yet know what the generalized Healing Surge mechanic IS, so that "6+con" may be (read: is probably) adjusted by your class level -- whether it's multiplied by class level or what, I haven't the foggiest.

    How powerful is Crimson Edge?

Well, I dunno about THAT. The Pit Fiend has a +2 on saves (no differentiation), which suggests the saves are against a set DC like 15 or something and chances aren't supposed to be particularly high across the board.

    Healing Surge: My theory

Oh, you read that as a number of Healing Surges per day (or whatnot)? I read it as the quantity of HP regenerated when you get a healing surge, as in, "your healing surges heal 6+con HP".

    Healing Surge: My theory

I'm sure there will be... though the need for that may depend on how surges are handled by default. It might be a significant enough healing that enhancing it isn't necessary (short of, perhaps, the Heal style "you're at full HP now"). A powerful regeneration spell might give you a surge every...

    Healing Surge: My theory

Well, okay, I was just grabbing a quick example. Immunity probably is better. However, I think surge-linked boosts or effect-removal is a good idea for when you want something less than immunity but still a compelling benefit.

Healing Surges: 6 + Constitution modifier

I have a theory on what Healing Surge means, but rather than repost my maunderings, I'll just direct interested parties over to a devoted thread.

    Healing Surge: My theory

I just put together what's in the new Rogue article with something that one of the guys -- Mearles, I think? -- said in the podcast last month. He said something about how triggers were going to be more important to players as well as monsters, and as an example he mentioned Second Wind being...

    Rogue Crossbowmen: The ultimate sniper?

Actually, paragon path stacks on TOP of the class levels you're taking. So, for example, you take 10 levels of Ranger, then pick the Arcane Archer paragon path, and you take 10 more levels of ranger -- each of which also gives you a level of Arcane Archer benefits. Or you could take those ten...

    Worlds and Monsters Art Gallery

Back in 2nd edition they had lots of landscapey sort of shots and lots of what I have to think of as "static action" images -- That is, the characters are engaged in some sort of activity, like fighting, but have no sense of kinetic energy. If I may steal a few pics from that thread over there...

    Risk Rage

What's a little scary is I'm not entirely sure I can tell whether you're serious or parodying 4e haters.

    Monk?

I wouldn't support having too many Monk classes. The 'martial monk' with no wire-fu powers seems to me to be a Rogue with martial arts training. The Monk class, then, would need to be the sort of over-the-top martial artist you see in films, and that means he needs a magic-like power source...

Breaking News: Kuo-Toa Not Froggy Anymore

Whoah! Awesome.... I never liked Kuo-toa because they looked too comical and cartoony in the 3.x monster manual. This guy... yikes. Yes.

Breaking News: Kuo-Toa Not Froggy Anymore

I believe that IS correct -- I seem to recall a comment in a playtest report that didn't directly say, but implied, that dryads could "turn ugly" or some such thing. That would fit with a lot of fae, actually -- that they look pretty until you get past the illusion and find out that they're...

Breaking News: Kuo-Toa Not Froggy Anymore

How about a link to a screenshot of Treebeard? Mobile tree-people aren't anywhere close to being a Guild Wars invention.

    Cascade effect of rule changes

Looking at the original article, that's not what Christmas Tree means. The Christmas Tree effect is, if you fail to have a christmas tree's worth of items, your character becomes worthless. Or significantly less able. The Christmas Shrub concept is that you only have three items that are...

Which class will be the faveorite wrt multiclassing dips?

I'm saying that it doesn't matter what your classes are, whether you have one or three. The tiers depend on character level, not class level, and you get a paragon path when you get there -- again regardless of your specific class makeup. That has to do with what class-related powers you're...

Which class will be the faveorite wrt multiclassing dips?

Eep! Nonono. You gain a new tier when you are the appropriate character level. But here's the neat thing that you have to get into your head... Forget PRCs. In 3.x, PRCs replace your first class. That's not how it works in 4e. Paragon paths are abilities you get *in addition to* your...
