    Adventurer's Vault Excerpt: Airships

It works. I would not call it elegant or efficient. A HP grind is not something I'd call elegant. It somewhat fits into the simple easy to use rules of 4e, but that does not make it elegant. And it does not make it fun or dynamic, it just makes it a boring HP slog. Who dies through...

    Teleportation Circles

If I don't want my players messing around with something. I just tell them this isn't in my game, i do not want to deal with it and its ramifications. It seems to work for us. It is a bit harder to insert something that hasn't been written into my game, since I have to try and balance it with...

    Rituals, lots of them !

Yeah I noticed that after my previous post. I'd like to see more rituals in the 5 minute range. I think the duration of a short rest is a better standard to work rituals from. And with this there may even be shorter rituals.

    Immune Charm/Fear

I do not see a fear condition in this. Though dazed in fear would be a cool effect for this power. I think the fear keyword was added just as flavor text since its otherworldy from beyond starpact magic. If the damage specified in it fear damage I'd be fine with the 2nd part being fear...

    Immune Charm/Fear

Both fear and radiant are keywords, I don't think I'd apply a specific keyword to a portion of the damage when no keyword is used in the description. Though quite frankly due to the sentence structure I think the secondary damage is also radiant damage.

    Alchemy

I think the smokestick is the only decent one. Yeah the effect is minor but 150GP becomes nothing. Keeping your alchemist fire at its basic as good as an at will state costs insane loot for a one shot item at all levels.

    Alchemy > Ritual Caster

Here I thought most of it looked cool but crappy. It is way too much money for one shot items. About the only one I liked was the smokestick.

    Is "Shield" too powerful?

I guess I'm weird but I keep my players stats around and I don't have to ask what will hit them. I like to keep track of things like AC and HP.

    Immune Charm/Fear

I think the real question is why does that power have the fear keyword. Is starlight scary power or something? He would take full damage, its radiant damage and you get your worse defense. So to be immune the target would have to be radiant and fear immune. If there was some kind of...

    Is "Shield" too powerful?

Echoing the encounter power aspect of it being the real selling point. FF seems totally weak sauce mainly due to it being a daily, heck I don't think it would be overpowered at level 2 as an at will. As a daily it just sucks.

    Adventurer's Vault Excerpt: Airships

I wonder if they are going to have rules on how to make them or do the lame for my game, you need a battalion of gnomes its all DM fiat no PCs need to apply system.

    Are scry durations too short?

Most likely though you find out that your scying is blocked. For virtually every situation someone can come up with where it would seem like a worthwhile investment to get a mere 30 seconds of scrying time, it would be a much more worthwhile investment for the target to block scrying.

D&D 5E (2014) What powers should be next on the Errata Block?

I'd say any power where it is better at a role other than your own. A wizard should never out striker a striker, it may be a secondary role but that means at best he comes in second compared to the strikers. And the striker should not need a specific build in order to beat out the wizard. An...

The I'm not jealous of Gen Con attendees AT ALL thread

I am more of a comic con type of guy not a game con. One of my friends used to go to conventions a lot before I knew him maybe I'd be willing to give it a try if he was along, other than that no real desire to go.

    Teleportation Circles

Its one of the first things I asked about 4e since its one of the first things my players will want to know once they go over the rituals. I got basically the same answer. Hopefully this will be something in a future book, to me its a big oversight.

    Are scry durations too short?

Which basically means to me its only useful if I go out of my way to make it useful. After a bunch of nothing else works conditions are met, and in a very specific storyline of needing to see someone face, who performed a important enough crime that I'm willing to drop 24,000GP to solve it, and...

    Are scry durations too short?

Basically with the reward 30 seconds of seeing some guy, and a 1 hour cast time and a fairly high GP cost I don't see any PC ever casting it. To me that means either the duration is too short or the cost is too high or both. I think considering how hard it would be to get any useful...

    Rituals, lots of them !

While I think 10 minutes a minimum may have been overboard, they really don't need to be shorter. Rituals aren't supposed to be something you use when the the boulder is rolling down the hill at you.

4th Edition made a great Paladin...

I have no problem with evil gods providing healing, but the exact same healing the exact same destructive spells etc. seems weird. I assume good gods need there faithful to kick butt, I assume evil gods want there faithful to live on to spread some more evil. Evil gods would like be better at...

D&D 4E Bag of Tricks seems to be a look into 4E summoning

It is basically what I expected to see with summoning. A feat or class feature for summoning based classes that allows a minor action to command multiple creatures at once would round it out for me. It doesn't have to be army level but a summoner controlling 3ish creatures without crippling...
