    Monsters as Magic Weapons?

Am I thinking of 3.0 (not 3.5) where monsters count as a specific level of "+" weapon based on their Hit Dice? (For example, the attacks of a 6-HD creature was considered a +1 weapon) I'm looking for the source.

    Feeblemind

I like the FAQ's ruling. Otherwise simply removing and replacing the headband increases your Int. Which is just plain dumb (not to mention metagaming to the extreme).

    Multiple Simultaneous Free Actions?

So much rudeness! Sorry I asked the question. :erm:

    Multiple Simultaneous Free Actions?

You're still using seal fate and spin fate as simultaneous free actions...

    Multiple Simultaneous Free Actions?

Spin Fate and Seal Fate from the Fatespinner prestige class. Both are free actions to modify the DC of the save and the saving throw of the target. Combined that's up to a -15 swing...

    Multiple Simultaneous Free Actions?

Let's say you have two independent special abilities that can modify a spell you cast and each requires a free action to activate. I know there is no cast-in-stone limit to the number of free actions you can take in a round, but can you use two free actions simultaneously with casting a spell...

    D&D 3.x Wyndlass Monster Converted to 3E?

Does anyone know if the Wyndlass (sp?) monster was converted to 3E? It's like a land-borne octopus that dwells in swamps and squirts (IIRC) oil instead of ink. I've been looking for it but can't find it. It was from one of the 2E Monstrous Compendiums, I think either the Dragonlance or Greyhawk...

    Good Spells for Dragons?

It's a black dragon but the caster level is only 7th so we're not talking high-level or blaster spells. More likely buff-type stuff or other cool low-level spells.

    Good Spells for Dragons?

I have a dragon with caster level 7 (sorcerer spells) and am looking for some good spells to take. Any suggestions?

    Readying a Silence Spell?

If you ready an action to cast a silence spell 5 feet behind an enemy spell caster with the trigger being the enemy spell caster beginning to cast a spell, what happens? (assuming the enemy's spell has a Verbal component) Technically I think the readied action takes place before the enemy's...

    Help a new dm :D

Definitely get your hands on an Encounter Calculator; there are plenty online. It will help you immensely in figuring out how many monsters of what CR to throw at the party, and will also figure out the party's effective Encounter Level (which can be difficult if you have more or less than 4...

    Gaming for two?

I ran a 3.5 game with 2 players and each played 2 PCs. It worked out well and since they started at 1st-lvl they didn't feel overwhelmed. There are a lot of synergies to having a player run 2 PCs because instead of getting 4 players to agree you only have to get 2 to agree.

A Cool Story of New D&D Players

This is one of the dirty little secrets that most D&D players don't realize or just don't do: the responsibility for bringing in new players to the D&D universe is OUR responsibility, not just WotC's. WotC (and TSR before it) always tried to bring in new players, with spotty results. If we're...

Experienced GMs - How do you divide your preparation time?

One of the things I've learned over my many years of DM'ing is that every room in a dungeon doesn't need to be fully fleshed out. You waste a lot of time detailing every single room, especially if you're using one of those maps where every square inch of the paper is taken up with rooms. Always...

    D&D Zombie Holocaust-type adventures

It's all in the presentation. With 4E it's even easier as you just make hordes of minion zombies. In 3E I'd use the swarm template. I remember using kobold swarms against 10+ level characters in a 3E game and they were quite effective, especially when combined with BBEGs. No single battle will...

Good 3rd party books on treasure?

I use the treasure generator in the back of Draconomicon but the very best that I HIGHLY recommend is the Mother of All Treasure Tables from Kenzer. It's awesome! Treasure descriptions by the thousands and if you mix and match the results are limitless. I've found so many interesting ideas...

Throwing a character across a room?

I like those rules but the multiplier quickly breaks down. Doubling after doubling after doubling, etc., quickly produces ridiculous results. Applying the D&D multiplying rules helps a bit.
