    Status of D&D Game Table?

That's the most sensible thing WotC could do. WotC are not experts at software design & development. They have their hands full with DDI. Let people who have the know-how, ability, and focus create the VTT. License it and get it going already. Those guys from Sweden (I think) who are making a...

Has EN World Become a 4E Fanboy?

And no, I'm not trolling. Personally, I'm not a big fan of 4E. I've played it and it's alright but I prefer 3.5. Okay, my bias has been disclosed. I know for a fact that 4E is not as universally popular as 3rd Edition was. Yes, there were and still are some people who preferred earlier...

    Best Undersea Supplements?

There was a 2E splatbook with a blue cover that dealt with sea-based adventures. Most of it was on the surface IIRC, but some of it dealt with undersea adventuring. Can't recall the name at the moment...

Disappointed in Dungeon, at least for adventures.

I think the current Dungeon is a perfect example of what happens when you take what was previously an excellent stand alone product and roll it into another product "suite" (D&D Insider). Now it's just one more thing you get with the subscription and clearly isn't a priority for the powers that...

D&D 3.x 3.5 Random Encounter Generator Just leveled up!

Wow, these are impressive generators!!! One question... does the Monster Advancer only do those monsters listed?

    Print Dragon Collectibility and Pricing?

If you mean the version with the Cthulu mythos in it, the store probably doesn't realize what it's got on its hands... I know that's how I got my copy at a bargain price! ;)

    What makes a Sandbox?

So in order to not be sandbox doesn't the game need to be entirely random??? Why bother playing with a DM? Why not have the players just decide everything whenever they want? This whole thing sounds like a bunch of players who have had bad experiences with DM's railroading them and so think...

If a monster has an "at will" spell-like ability...

Ditto. Especially if it's a (chaotic) demon vs. a devil. That being said, unless the enemy achieves complete tactical surprise, I wouldn't have a problem with a fiend constantly re-buffing if it is expecting combat.

What can you shoot with a ballista?

Keep in mind that ballista were used by the Romans to clear parapets of enemy troops. So targets don't necessarily have to be big or slow moving.

Improved Grab as a Free Action?

You've been around long enough to know that using terms like "nope" is annoying. You should know better. But it is apples and oranges because there is no linkage between the AoO attack and Quick Draw. You're making a connection but that's not written into an ability the way grappling as a free...

Improved Grab as a Free Action?

I think you mean you would NOT be able to grapple, correct?

Improved Grab as a Free Action?

I'm not following. Improved Grab specifically states you can start a grapple as a free action. Quick Draw states you can draw as a free action but Quick Draw isn't an AoO. Improved Grab results from the AoO and leads to the grapple as a free action. Quick Draw does not specifically result from...

Improved Grab as a Free Action?

Quickened spells are swift actions and they have their own language that prohibits their use on other people's turns.

Improved Grab as a Free Action?

Yes but Cleave specifies that you can make an "immediate" attack vs. as a free action. And sneak attack doesn't specify any type of action. I agree that it can be done but my players are questioning it. The crux of their argument is that a free action can only be done on your turn (not sure if...

Improved Grab as a Free Action?

Can a purple worm that hits with its bite attack on an AoO immediately start a grapple as a free action, or can it only do that with a successful attack on its own turn? Our group is debating whether or not it can take a free action on someone else's turn... From the SRD: Improved Grab (Ex)...

    Plastic Coins?

This past summer I bought some gold pirate coins from Zellers that were part of the Pirates of the Caribbean merchandise line. Might be hard to find now as I went back looking for more and had to hunt for them. But they're frikken awesome! They're plastic so they're light weight and we use...

    FanExpo 2009 August 28-30, Toronto

I think there's one called Palladium held out by the airport. It's been a couple years since I heard about it so I don't know if it's still running or not.

Righteous Wrath of the Faithful question?

If the target has spell resistance and does not voluntarily lower it (standard action), then yes spell resistance would apply. That said, as the DM I've never required friendlies to lower their spell resistance to be affected by spells cast by allies. Technically that goes against the rules though.

XP awards for fighting same monster twice?

The way I do it is that typically the party cannot earn more than the normal amount of XP for the same encounter twice (or more). If the enemy flees or withdraws in good order and I plan on bringing them back later, I give half XP for the first encounter (or full XP and none later on)...
