D&D 5E (2014) EN World Interview With Mike Mearls, Lead Designer of D&D Next

Wanna spill the beans on some class features of The Big Four (classes) and some themes? EDIT: Okay, to get a little more specific: Any idea what the fighter got instead of the surge and weapon specialization class features? How do fighter's maneuvers work? Any idea if Paladins use 'stamina'...

D&D blog: goblin care only about your axe

I don't think that pushes or pulls will vary in quantity. They will just push away or pull close (a fixed number of square, pretty sure just 1 square; for ToM then it's just getting pushed out or in melee or something like that). -YRUSirius

Presentaion of Spells: To Prose or Not To Prose?

I find prose text is much easier to read than the 4E mechanic blocks. I hate reading clumsy 4E excel sheets... So I chose B. So much info from 4E mechanic blocks can be formulated way easier in prose text. :) -YRUSirius

Possible evidence that grid module exists in some form?

They even had photos of 5E tables with grids and miniatures on it at the 'public' 5E playtests at the conventions. ;) -YRUSirius

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Next weekly art column!

Seeing the 1E cover in this thread again and all the L&L articles I had an idea. What about some kind of stylized demon idol as the secret handshake for 5E? Good for the old guard too, eh? ;) -YRUSirius

You're reading too much into it. It's more like 2E and classic 3E: You get a standard action and a move action. It's just described in simpler terms. -YRUSirius

Blog: Background and Themes a closer look.

I'm wondering what the lurker theme feats will do, if even a wizard/cleric/fighter can choose them. I hoped only the fighter could take the slayer or guardian theme, only the rogue could take the lurker or archer theme, etc. I hoped the theme would be the first kind of specialisation of the...

Newbies love that. 5E feats seem to be nothing more than some kind of class features at the higher levels. It isn't that hard for a 3E rogue player to keep track of his class features, or is it? And if it is, just don't use feats and the DM will adjust his encounters accordingly -YRUSirius
