'Same her' - doh! Playing loads of OSR clone right now so made up, and last night tried out, a load of sugary Halloween horrors. Much fun was was had by most and I've just stuck the very OSR compatible bunch up at Thistle Games. :)

I commented on the gameplay rather than the setting/ crunch, creep and meta rather than fluff. It may have advancement, it may have epic campaigns, and it may have a rich backdrop; but six people connected to a computer-moderated game are not experiencing the same types of interaction/ fun as...

I'm not being contemptuous; right or wrong that's my considered opinion. No amount of virtual objects, countless ranks or gleaming 3D is, to me, comparable to getting round a table and using your own imaginations to drive play :)

On balance I'd have to reckon there's a huge gap between the sparkly, insubstantial world of Wow and the thinnest tabletop game - even when hastily thrown together on the back of a cigarette packet on an overcrowded underground. The very existence of Level 90 tells me all I need to know :)

I say let them have the the Forsaken back - never had a problem with uber-races since a player used obscure sub-book W, routine 127ii to persuade me it'd be cool if he played a Beholder. The fun I had with that thing and a few weather control spells :devil: XP for the memories!
