Impromptu Stream with Ed Greenwood, Tim Kask, & TSR CCO

There is a v enthusiastic, young and diverse group of relatively fresh ttrpg gamers that has formed a supportive and creative community on Twitter. They don't give two hoots about culture wars, as there is no debate over the validity of diversity in their minds. They will not back your Gory...

    D&D and the rising pandemic

The media will report and in some cases condemn an incident, but never quite get round to the root causes of social and political media fuelling misinformation by presenting so-called 'debate' in the name of 'balance'. There is no debate over the climate crisis, just look out the window; there...

The Great Kilt, the Ultimate Survival Blanket?

Certainly seems possible in dire straits as decent shields were relatively few and far between. But I'm a wee bitty doubtful about a Scot throwing their clothing into a blender, like what do I wear now?

    D&D General On Grognardism...

Kind of like the artwork at the time, there was plenty left to your groups' imagination and no legacy to prefill it. Rulings were made in the spirit of the rules rather than the rules because there often were no rules. After tortuous sessions with counter wargames it was straight to the fun...

D&D General Styles of Roleplaying and Characters

I prefer to stick the drama in the gameplay but he's laying on a show and some tyres never run out of tread. LARP gamers would consider the theatricals pretty tame as they pen academic articles about character implosion and bleed psychosis.

    D&D and the rising pandemic

True but there are a cluster of causes there and white collar workers with time might contribute either way. Everyone has the climate and Covid to deal with and if we can't make something of the easier ways of transitioning we sure ain't going to make sudden jumps.

D&D General Has the meaning of Roleplaying changed? my own thought.

5e has more than a dash of CCG about it, which invites min-max, and there's not a lot of jeopardy compared to OSR play. Works v well with some of the published scenarios, but at higher levels the hope of surviving has been replaced with an expectation along the lines of my Flaming Flamingo...

    D&D and the rising pandemic

Working from home is maybe a key defence against permaCovid. Urban spaces offering pedestrianisation, outings, flats, . . . can make cash. Ferrying people packed into cubicles in and out every day is a Covid factory. The cumulative costs of enabling working from home where practical are much...

The Great Kilt, the Ultimate Survival Blanket?

Survival kilt, back in the day we had to make do with just a sporran. No fancy kilt accessorised kilts, just goats' wool and a lot of chaffing.
