    D&D 5E (2024) Should poison spray be a cone?

To be honest why would you ever take this spell at this short of a range with a con saving throw and poison damage even if it was a cone effect. Acid spalsh with its 5ft radius is hitting 4 squars with a dex save and a decent range even if it is only d6. It had a better chance to deal damage...

D&D 5E (2024) What would be the path between Wildshape Templates and Use an Beast statblock?

I am hoping for a curated list of available shapes and then rules to scale them up to higher CR as you level up. I don't want my only options at higher levels to be dinosaurs

    D&D 5E (2024) Expectations for Patch 9?

Brawler fighter and WorldTree barbarian both need work. I feel like the warlock will get one more pass and I feel that sorcerer still needs a bit more attention. I am upset that ranger isn't getting another pass. I am thinking that for 10 it might be something like spells if they do more phb...

    D&D 5E (2024) Playtest 8: Cantrips

I can't believe my brain wasn't working, you are so correct.

    D&D 5E (2024) Playtest 8: Cantrips

I thought potent cantrip was just evocation like the aoe ability.

    D&D 5E (2024) Playtest 8: Cantrips

Evocation Wizard: Shocking Grasp will do 7.2 average while True Strike will do 6.6. Figuring in a 60% hit chance at level 5. That same evoker will be doing 8.4 with fire bolt at range or 5 to multiple targets with Acid splash. It is a good spell for Bladelocks, as well as Bards and Non Dragon...

    D&D 5E (2024) Playtest 8: Cantrips

They denounce a spell that is only accessible by 1 class Bard, Cleric, Druid, Warlock

    D&D 5E (2024) Playtest 8: Cantrips

So now as far as damage cantrips go we have Acid: Acid Splash (save), Not in PHB - Primal Savagery (melee) Cold: Frostbite (save), Ray of Frost (ranged) Fire: Fire Bolt (ranged), Produce Flame (ranged) D Force: Eldritch Blast (ranged) War, Shillelagh (melee)  D Not in PHB - Sword Burst (save)...

    D&D 5E (2024) Playtest 8: Cantrips

You can break it down further since we now have 3 cantrips that are in the necromancy school. 1 is a save DC, 1 a melee, and 1 is a Ranged, true the Ranged spell deals poison damage and not necrotic but its still close.

    D&D 5E (2024) Playtest 8: Cantrips

So to me the new freinds cantrip is more like they are just in a better mood or that you are able to put I a bit of extra charm. They don't know that you casted a spelland it's not like it imparts a slavish devotion just gives you a better chance of convincing them.

    D&D 5E (2024) Playtest 8: Cantrips

So I love the changes that have made. Acid Splash (4/5): as a 5ft radius and changing it to evocation so it works with the evocation subclass I a great change. Blade Ward (5/5): This is a good change, I can see any melee focused caster taking this as a must have but I wouldn't just take a feat...

    D&D 5E (2024) Sorcerer (Playtest 7)

Thank you for the detailed answer, the main reason that I asked the question is because numerous people point out the aberrant and clockwork as better subclasses due to their 3xtra spells. WotC has already said that those subclasses got that bonus in exchange for what other subclasses got at 3rd...

    D&D 5E (2024) Playtest 7 survey is now live.

This is exactly what we needed, specialist by a them not just a school. I mentioned this in my feedback that an over all war wizard would have been much better than a separate abjurationist and evocationist.

    D&D 5E (2024) Sorcerer (Playtest 7)

So could someone explain to my why people think more spells for a Sorcerer is nessisary? Looking a the storm Sorcerer I found less than 30 spells that I would take that fit that type of a thematic and while 22 might mean that I had to exchange afew spells out as I gained levels for similar...

    D&D 5E (2024) Sorcerer (Playtest 7)

I am probably one of the few who don't want more spells on the dragon and wild magic sorcerer. As long as they improve the sorcerer spell list they are fine. To me sorcerers are specialist who focus on a small selection of spells but learn how to make them do more. Dragons should have...

D&D 5E (2024) Are You Happy with the Selection of Subclasses?

With clockwork sorcerers it's that they feel almost setting specific like the lunar sorcery, expecialy when you look at a core book offering. I can think of times in literature where I would say oh that's a storm, shadow, dragon, wild magic, or aberrant, ( or ice, fire) but never have I been oh...

    D&D 5E (2024) The new warlock (Packet 7)

So I don't care about them getting a 3rd attack, what I do care a out is the fact that it is part of an invocation that is already powerful and that it isn't nessisary until lovl 17 with the 4th attack. Pact of the blade with thirsting blade and lifedrinker keeps up with eldritch blast with...

    D&D 5E (2024) Wizard (Playtest 7)

When Crawford was talking about it he was saying how much fun the minion aspect was and how they had worked it so you could start getting minions at 3rd level when you first took the subclass and didn't have to wait until later

    D&D 5E (2024) Fighter (Playtest 7)

Even if they make sure to specify that improvised weapons work with fighting styles I feel like the Brawler still doesn't work. The unarmed fighting aspects mainly work with the defense fighting style and not the other options. The improvised weapon focuses thematically is about you using...

    D&D 5E (2024) Wizard (Playtest 7)

Personally I would much rather a Shadowfell specific book but that will be just as easy for a DM to soft ban them. If they are going to put some of the darker subclass options in the dmg I would rather it be like 1 option for each class than just the oathbreaker, death domain and necromancer...
