Making an arcane version of Grave Strike

Well now, that is a good idea, too :) The spell conversion is actually for the Wizard/Rogue/Assassin in my group. A potential next mission for the special operations unit of Myern (my LE city-state) is removing a group of necromancers that have moved into an abandoned town near the border...

Making an arcane version of Grave Strike

Thanks for your comments! I'll keep the spell level 1 due to its limited use by only a multi-class character. Cheers

Making an arcane version of Grave Strike

Bueller? Bueller? Seriously, is there already an arcane version out there? Am I missing something? Is House Rules dying a slow death? It's the weekend? What?

Making an arcane version of Grave Strike

    Anyone? Is this spell balanced?

Making an arcane version of Grave Strike

A simple conversion. Create an arcane version of Grave Strike for wizard/rogue multi-classes. The spell is almost exactly the same, except it's arcane. 1st level spell, 1 swift action casting time, 1 round duration, V component only (this is the only change, more in line with Golem Strike)...

    Familiar Replacement

Look for ideas in the UA Specialist Wizard variants. http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/specialistWizardVariants.htm All the variants have an option to replace a familiar with another ability. With your DMs approval it would be easy enough to switch out the same for your sorcerer.

    Metamagic Rods

Could one make the argument that the rod's use-activated magic is triggered by the verbal component? That way you could keep the rod in a pocket, and you wouldn't have to do the gestures/somatic part. It would make it somewhat more useful than.

    Metamagic Rods

Was there a reason a Rod of Metamagic, Still was not included in the DMG? (or other splatbooks for that matter) The rods would help in a grapple, allowing more spells to be cast. Still need to make Concentration checks, but at least there's a chance. Would it be within reason to make one...

Augment Healing with wands and scrolls

Okay, so everyone pretty much agrees by RAW it's not allowed. BUT, it makes for a fine House-Rule to let Augment Healing apply to scrolls and wands. Thanks a bunch!

Augment Healing with wands and scrolls

Does a cleric with the feat "Augment Healing" add the benefits of the feat when casting a Conjuration (Healing) spell from a wand or scroll? Cheers

Honey, how about becoming a vampire?

Check out Libris Mortis for feat options. I believe there is one where you can resist sunlight for a few more seconds or minutes before you explode.

    Summoner

My current character is a summoner, and like theemrys's player he is: Conjurer 3 / Master Specialist (Conjuring) 3 Variants: Unearthed Arcana trade-in Familiar for Rapid Summoning, and trade Wizard Bonus Feats for Summoning boosts (Of course, I only got the 1st level trade-off Scribe Scroll...

Immobile rule and Bands of Steel

Well, that description from Tome of Magic won't work for the spell. Bands of Steel involves a saving throw. If the save fails the victim is immobilized. If they succeed on the save, they are entangled. The Tome of Magic version of "immobilized" would then imply that there are NO penalties when...

    Turn Resistance

You add the Turn Resistance bonus to the undead's Hit Dice total for the purpose of a turn check. Example: A Shadow has 3 HD, but has turn resistance +2. Thus it is considered a 5 HD creature when a cleric tries to turn it (or bolster it, for that matter). Thus, you also need to roll 5 HD worth...

Immobile rule and Bands of Steel

The spell Bands of Steel, pg 24 of the Spell Compendium, states What does immobile mean? Immobile according to the Grapple rules, with a pin, state: So for grappling, immobile means a loss of AC and that's it. No Dex penalty, nothing. However, the condition "Helpless" states, The...

    "Epic" progression after 6th level

A cap at 8th level would also allow fighters to get their precious Improved Critical feat. Something that would certainly set them apart from the other classes. Barbarians could get their Damage Reduction 1/-, and Rage 3/day, very cool. All spellcasters get 4th level spells. Still appropriate...

    Dispel happy Druid

No offense Infiniti2000, but I think you are a bit hasty in your judgement call. New DMs have to learn sometime, right? If our players gave up on us when we were just starting out, we wouldn't be the GMs we are today.

    CDG with nonlethal damage?

Beaten into a coma. Won't come out for days, maybe even weeks. Yup, sounds about right.

    Enlarge Person

I agree with the falling prone, to a certain degree. If there is ample room for the other characters to move aside, then they can move aside. You don't want to punish ALL the players decisions. However, if the Enlarge happens in a narrow corridor, or other such circumstance, then the other...

    How dumb are constructs?

Another tidbit to add. This depends on the argument that the golem is aware or not that the acid is destroying it. For the sake of this tidbit, let's assume it doesn't feel pain or realize it is being destroyed. In the OP it described the golem as being completely submerged in acid. So, it...
