Aha! Will wonders (hereabouts, at least) never cease?!?

Yup. That worked. Not sure why it didn't give me the option via My Account>Preferences, but whatever. Thanks!

    Posts per page

For years, I've had my preferences set to 20 posts per page (instead of the default 10), but now it's displaying 10 per page and I can't find where in Preferences (or elsewhere in Settings) to change it. What am I missing? Thanks!

    The Slave and Her Sovereign

Wowzers, each of these choices is tempting in its own way, especially the latter two! That said, I've decided upon your  B, beginning with the Stealth attempt to sabotage the camp by collapsing the overhanging rock features via forthcoming Terrain Stunt. The way to Dolg Olsolis is treacherous...

    The Slave and Her Sovereign

At the Dolg Aratian's conversion, IBHEA smiles shyly, offering the older man a hand up from the dusty road and wrapping him in a warm embrace. "Welcome to the true faith, brother, that of Mother and Son in shared Divinity! Yes, I will accompany you to succor Dolg Olsolis, for Delban is both...

    The Slave and Her Sovereign

As the sky ripples and becomes tinged a sickly violet, at first IBHEA thinks it is the araq at work, a distortion of his own mind. But when so many Dolg Hanans quake or flee in terror, he realizes this is no internal manifestation but an aberrant incursion in the world From Beyond. The most...

    The Slave and Her Sovereign

Wasps whir and dart, assailing poor Gan, who waves his hands about his head frantically and emits a dull, frightened "Hhhrrrrruuuuhhh!" In response, IBHEA raises the Omthalan semisphere from the chain at his neck and intones, "Blessed Mother of Delban, Sun Scorch, sear these pestilent insects in...

    The Slave and Her Sovereign

The whisky priest disengages from the scrum with his Omthalan rival and desperately scrambles to his feet at the sight of the listing wagon of provisions. On the mean streets of Bantouk as an urchin, IBHEA was no stranger to incidents of vehicle collision, the collapse of derelict building...

    The Slave and Her Sovereign

IBHEA feels the araq coursing now through his body. The familiar hazy glow and dissolution of fears, of qualms. As the priest of Omthala reaches out to lay hands upon Gan, the whisky priest reacts atavistically, the training of his youth on the streets of Burning Row taking over. He closes the...

    The Slave and Her Sovereign

@Manbearcat Here are the bookkeeping details for Ibhea's level up. I'll come back and edit this post a little later to address the fiction and make a move. Ibhea at Level 8 Key changes: retrain Blade Initiate (MC Swordmage) to Arcane Prodigy (MC Sorcerer); New Feat: Novice Power (swap 3rd...

    The Slave and Her Sovereign

As the silver blade hurtles towards him, CHANVATI reaches out with his mind to telekinetically halt its flight. Then he draws out the flow of time in a shimmering haze, clouding his presence from the githyanki and dragon both as he steps, in slow motion, to the side. The gith's blade passes...

    The Slave and Her Sovereign

As Pa'avu bellows and flexes, alpha to alpha, CHANVATI assumes a different tack, that of learned riposte to an intellectual challenge. "Bold and noble Ishka, the tenderness of your years incarnates truly the temerity and steadfastness of your people. Yet it also reveals an overly reductive view...

    The Slave and Her Sovereign

The space where Pa'avu stands, peering downward atop the circular stair, suddenly fills with the rhythmic clang of finger cymbals, and CHANVATI appears beside the Goliath; the manic look in his eye signals that he has borne psychic witness to her travails--and communication--with the earth...

    The Slave and Her Sovereign

CHANVATI, advanced psicrafter among the Walkers of the Exalted Path as well as Merchant-Prince and General of Giants, does not miss a beat. His mind extends outward and into that of the Steward, as it did in this enclave as a youth, and as it has so many times, with so many minds, since. There...

    The Slave and Her Sovereign

Okay, @Nephis and I have consulted, so here's where things stand: I am not opposed to the offer of bribing our way back into Bantouk as part of a phase-silk caravan. We have the coin and are willing to spend it ... so long as it's bribing the proper officials and not being pocketed by yet...

    The Slave and Her Sovereign

Bookkeeping Matters: We take that proffered Extended Rest, refreshing all Daily and Encounter resources. Current XP tally: 13,962/16,500 needed to advance to L9. CHANVATI raises one eyebrow at Kaveh's words. "Indeed, Steward, I believe a wise man once said, 'What we call nature is a certain...

    The Slave and Her Sovereign

As their final foe scuttles away through the fissure, Pa'avu feels the effects of the venomous antitoxin--and her adrenaline--dissipate. Strangely, however, the spider tattoo on her right forearm morphs, shrinking from its raised texture into her skin in the form of a spiderweb, fading away at...

    D&D 4E D&D 4E fans: what do you like about 4E?

From my perspective what makes the Nentir Vale such an excellent setting is its "draw maps but leave blanks" approach. Not literally. Rather, the setting is roughly sketched with copious points of entreé for PCs (via obvious Background and Theme connections and things of that ilk) but not a...

    The Slave and Her Sovereign

Upon much discussion and reflection, here is where we see the four characters in the aftermath of recent events. Outstanding Quests are noted as well. Arunny: The golden priestess has become fascinated by the tripartite nature of Divinity, Omthala, Delban, Maba. New Major Quest: Discover the...

*The setting* as the focus of "simulationist" play

Question: do you think players can't generate/spare such energy, or do you think they've been primed to expect their roles to be relatively passive receivers of GM-driven play by trad D&D's long history looming over the industry (what often gets euphemistically termed "immersion," as if such a...
