So Much Art From the 2025 Monster Manual

This you? Saying that people who like the new art are just corpo shills that love any slop WotC/Hasbro throws at them is an insult. That is a direct insult to me. If I said, "Elmore's art is so bad that anyone that pretends to like it is just deluded by nostalgia, and would recognize how...

So Much Art From the 2025 Monster Manual

I disagree. When someone enters a discussion about new art immediately attacking the artists, likening their work to AI-generated images, calling it "awful," "embarrassing," "beyond cringe," and "lame bubblegum," implying that those that like the new art are merely pretending to like it out of...

    D&D 5E (2024) Why aren't Angels concidered a type of Empryeans?

Eh, they’re divine giants descended from gods, and a lot of them are “fallen.” Seems close enough to me. Definitely a more fitting name than “Empyrean” (plane of light/fire) or the older name “Titan” (parents of the Olympian gods in Greek mythology), IMO.

Monster Manual Previews Reveal New Empyrean, Half Dragon, Cyclops, and Animal Lords

As someone who’s creating a setting with some heavy inspiration from Gnosticism, I love the Empyrean Iotas. A monster formed from the thoughts of the gods fits really well into this world, and I’ll absolutely take inspiration from the Iota to make more creatures like it.

So Much Art From the 2025 Monster Manual

Elmore has a ton of art that is of awkwardly posed boring heroes standing in bland landscapes while staring at the camera. Occasionally with a weird dragon randomly in the background. I prefer nearly every previewed art piece to anything I’ve seen by Elmore. Every time I have seen people praise...

    D&D 5E (2024) Why aren't Angels concidered a type of Empryeans?

That’s not true. We post direct text from books all the time, as do reviewers. As far as I know, WotC has never sued or Pinkerton’ed anyone for that.

What are you reading in 2025?

I just finished Wind and Truth by Brandon Sanderson, the fifth book in the Stormlight Archive and last book in the first arc. I read the entire book within 4 days, and over 800 pages yesterday alone. I overall loved it and thought it was far superior to the last book, Rhythm of War, I have a ton...

    D&D 5E (2024) Humanoids in the MM...

I think they’ll make it so they’re just generic NPC stat blocks that any species can be.

    D&D 5E (2024) Humanoids in the MM...

Gith were aberrations in the Planescape book, so it’s likely they will be in the Monster Manual. Thri-Kreen will probably be monstrosities, as they are in Spelljammer. I could see Lycanthropes becoming Monstrosities too. Merfolk I could see going several ways. Fey makes sense, as does elementals.

2025 Monster Manual to Introduce Male Versions of Hags, Medusas, and Dryads

I don’t have anything against turning creatures from mythology/folklore that were supposed to be one of a kind into the name of their entire species in D&D (Minotaurs, Goliaths, Tritons, et cetera). What bugs me about the name “Medusas” is that there was already a term for the type of creature...

2025 Monster Manual to Introduce Male Versions of Hags, Medusas, and Dryads

I do like that idea, but I use Incubu/Succubi as the energy vampire creatures in my games. They feed off of passion of any type. Lust, an artist’s passion for theirs creations, intense friendships, bloodlust, and more can all feed a Succubus. Having energy vampire hags would be a bit redundant...

D&D 5E (2024) The Dragons Video for the 2025 Monster Manual

I thought it was funny that they basically said “Chromatic Dragon Wyrmlings were too cute and players didn’t want to kill them.” Which is accurate in my experience.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Monster Manual (2025)

The opposite bugs me. When Fizban’s came out, I was annoyed that the Moonstone Dragon wasn’t a template. Also, “Moonstone” is a terrible name for fey dragons.

D&D 5E (2024) 2025 Monster Manual All You Need to Know video link is up.

That is not sufficient for most monsters I make. I do often base monster stat blocks off of an official one, but not always. And even when I do, it usually involves changing the CR, in which case it is necessary to consult the homebrewing monsters table. I recently made a monster that was a...
