What makes a permanent grid on white board? Help needed with homemade "tac-tiles"

Do they have the grid on them? If not, then it's not filling the void. Not everyone has the time, creativity, and steady hands to put their own grid on the product...plus, messing up can get expensive. Again, if you can't find it to purchase it, the product is not filling the void.

Green Ronin not signing GSL (Forked Thread: Doing the GSL. Who?)

Or they might remember it as, "What happened to 3rd party publishers?" WotC has a strong marketing arm, and a product that many gamers believe is an improvement from 3E (whether the new product qualifies as a new edition of D&D or a completely different game is a separate debate). The people...

What makes a permanent grid on white board? Help needed with homemade "tac-tiles"

You'd think with all the people trying to recreate "tac-tiles", the company that made them would have done better. Maybe another company will try to fill the void...

    Staff implement one-handed?

Not really. The extra +1 proficiency bonus a longsword has over a staff compensates for using a magic sword that is five levels lower than the character. With the pricing of magic items in 4E, you can get an item 5 levels lower for next to nothing...especially if it is the fighter's...

    Staff implement one-handed?

So, I can either have a simple weapon that takes two hands and can be used as an implement, or I can have an implement in one hand and any one-handed weapon (including a bastard sword) in the other. I'd rather have a longsword in my other hand for more damage and a better proficiency bonus (go...

    The Iron Mage (WotST build)

Yes, that's correct. It can only be used once per encounter, but it's a nice boost.

Secondary ability benefits - why the wizard inconsistency?

Well, unless you're ready to dump 9 points in Str or Con to get the stat to 16, you're never going to have more than a 13 Fort as a 1st level wizard. So, I think you would have been slapped around regardless. Moral of the story - stay away from enemies who attack versus Fortitude.

    Staff implement one-handed?

I see this primarily as a balance issue. If the staff takes two hands to use as an implement, but the wand and orb only take one hand, there's an issue. Especially since the functionality of the orb exceeds that of the staff for most wizards.

    Guide to maximum possible values

Found this over on WotC's Character Optimization board - it's a good guide if you're trying to make a "pro from Dover" in a particular area. http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=1041062

    Best Classes by race

Obviously, Eladrin are great for Wizards, and make surprisingly good Rogues as well (that extra skill and the higher INT really come in handy).

    Action Point Limits?

I'd have to do searching to find the designer quote, but action points were allowed to be used more than once per encounter until it was changed during development (because people were hoarding them for the big boss fights). I'm guessing the class mechanics that give action points were...

    Saw Hellboy II at preview

I'm going to have to disagree about Abe - having the same actor (Doug Jones) doing the body and voice work seemed to add something to the performance. I also liked them fleshing Abe out, as he was underutilized in the first film. I think David Hyde Pierce didn't mind being left out, because...

    The Iron Mage (WotST build)

Not much, in my opinion. The amount of damage you'll reduce from a reroll (which isn't guaranteed to negate the attack) isn't worth the added vulnerability from having a lower AC score.

Forked Thread:Secondary Ability > Cleric and Wizard Controll

It depends on your definition of control. Wizards have better controlling spells for the most part, but there are times when clerics are better. Likewise, there are multiple cleric spells (Firestorm, Astral Storm) that are better at dishing out damage than the wizard equivalents. While they...

Secondary ability benefits - why the wizard inconsistency?

A wizard that maxes out Intelligence still has enough points for two other stats at 13 before racial modifiers, or three stats at 12 (which will hit 13 in the paragon tier, where many feats like Spell Focus become available). Implement mastery focuses on one other stat. Unless you're milking...

Best tactic for a paladin: cower behind allies?

There is no rule preventing the Paladin from moving up to the front line if his friends start to take a beating. But the target he marks will be taking a -2 to hit and taking damage, which should reduce the damage taken by the paladin's allies (as the target will whiff more often and die...

    Grading Daily Powers

Whoops! That'll teach me to actually grab the book to double-check the power before I post... I understand the reluctance to have too many A powers, but this one really is that good. Depends on what god you worship... :) It also depends on how you see your role. A maul fighter trying to...

    Cost of Core Books PDFs

So, you don't mind paying the printers, shippers, and retailers...but not the people who actually came up with the material? What percentage of the price do you attach to the writing staff that actually wrote the material, the artists that illustrated it, and the graphic designers that did the...
