    Grading At-Will Powers

Whoops! That's what I get for working quickly. I'll fix that now, thanks!

Did the WotC boards blow up...again?

Glad to help! You're showing your age, you know...that was WAY back in Dragon #67, published in 1982.

    Grading At-Will Powers

Numbers can be used in many ways. The value of Illusory Ambush really depends on two things - your chance to hit the target, and the target's chance to hit you. It's not a static chance. For example, if you are running a maxed-out wizard (20 Int to begin, stat bumps at every opportunity, best...

    Mats and mapping recommendations plz

Well, it folds up rather than rolls up, but take a look at the Flip-Map, by Steel Sqwire (http://www.steelsqwire.com/prod01.htm). Also, though the company is (I believe) out of business, you may be able to find Tact-Tiles, which I use for my own game.

Did the WotC boards blow up...again?

I have to say, while the WotC boards are nice when they work, they do seem to be down a lot of the time. It seems they went down again early this morning - you can see thread titles, but all the threads are blank.

Mamacat's helpful hints for gaming with couples with or without kids

My daughter's bedtime isn't until 8 pm (she's 5) and I don't think we're letting her stay up later than the typical parents. Heck, if we put her to bed any earlier, we'd have her waking us up at 5 in the morning! Anyway, I don't think my wife and I have started a game that late since before...

Swordmages and half-orcs hit the streets!

The dwarf swordmage had AC 20 at 3rd level with a 16 Int, wearing +1 surge leather armor (daily: gain +2 power bonus to all attack rolls and defenses, this bonus is reduced by 1 at the start of each of your turns). He also had a +1 defending longsword (when you take the total defense or second...

Swordmages and half-orcs hit the streets!

I played the LFR preview, and the 3rd level version of the dwarf swordmage was at the table. His mark never really came into play...but that could have just been because the monsters decided to attack him after being marked. Which, after all, is the point. His AC was equivalent to a fighter...

How to improve Dragonborn Senses Feat?

Or you could use a torch. Or a lantern. Or have the wizard use his at-will light cantrip... Plus, if you want to boost Perception, then Alertness or Skill Focus: Perception won't stack with Dragonborn Senses.

[Necromancer] Necro still in for 4E!

Okay, this may be a dumb question, but what is the lifespan of this product? Isn't Wizards going to produce their own writeup of druids, bards, and the like within the next year or two?

    Why no plate for fighters?

Or to give +1 AC over plate at the cost of -1 speed and -2 to certain skill checks. Remember, you can take Armor Specialization with Plate as well. Besides, who cares about speed if you have a Warlord shifting you around the battlefield?

    My first attempt

Just a few thoughts: * Spiking both Str and Cha seems a bit wasteful. Your Wisdom and Constitution both suffer, which limits healing surges and Lay on Hands. * Low Dex means you're unlikely to get to the 15+ range, which keeps a lot of feats out of your reach. * Holy Strike doesn't seem very...

    Cleave vs. Minions

Very nice - definitely putting that on my fighter.

Paladin vs Fighter: Who is the better Defender?

Still learning the rules, but I've been writing up a dragonborn paladin for my wife that has Draconic Breath along with Arcane Initiate, taking Thunderwave as the encounter power. Two encounter powers that do damage to an area is a great way to clear the battlefield of minions...

UBER Dragonborn Fighter or Paladin Defender...we can build him!

Giving builds all the way out to 30 is a lot of work, but I can see about posting the two dragonborn characters I've been working on. One is a dragonborn paladin with Arcane Initiate (Thunderwave and Lightning Breath for a storm theme), the other is a dragonborn fighter designed to lock down a...

Warrior of the Wild - encounter power

Well, if it lasts till the end of the next round, that's two rounds per combat. Assuming you can hit both rounds (the current one and the following one), it's basically +2d6 damage at the heroic tier (+4d6 paragon, +6d6 epic) on top of the benefits of Skill Training. So, it still looks...

Warrior of the Wild - encounter power

Okay, I'm working on a Dragonborn Fighter, and I was considering the multiclass feat Warrior of the Wild. I want to make sure I'm correct on how the Hunter's Quarry class feature works with the once per encounter limit. A normal ranger can designate a quarry once per turn as a free action, and...

    Lizard Bewbs?

I opened up the thread when it only had six posts. Didn't refresh before I posted...it happens (especially with a 5-year old that wants daddy's attention).

    Lizard Bewbs?

Man, how immature can you be? We don't need to focus on the 'attributes' of dragonborn females. There are far more important questions... ...so, do female dwarves have beards? :)
