    Allowing Rangers too much power???

I dont see any way to allow a ranger to cast spells as a druid on the same level and be fair. My first reaction is to say do not use this item at all. The only solution that comes close is by using gestalt rules, but they are not meant to be used for just one character, but for the whole...

Bronze age setting - what gear should be available?

I would not recommend such a rule. Loosing a weapon for every 20 attacks you make is neither fun nor realistic IMO. For a high level fighter weapons will have a lifetime of about 30 seconds before he has broken them. As for more primitive magic. Id say 1. loose the wizard (they are the most...

    Allowing Rangers too much power???

Personally I think that is a bit much. The ranger got a MAJOR boost from 3.0 to 3.5 and is a very viable class in it's own right. Giving them a that much stronger animal companion would IMO give them to much melee power.

Do you gain a bonus to ranged weapons while running?

But then you would need a rule that took into account in what direction the runner is going relative to you. If he is going straight away (or close to) it will easy. Essentially he is standing still relative to the direction of your shot and don't even know when you fire. If he is going...

Help an 7th level Rogue Archer

Hmm I am a bit fuzzy on the subject. But I think what might be the difference on our approach is that your give the actual probability to hit in a given round. Mine is just how many of your attacks that will hit on average, which means over a lot of rounds. So you have calculated a 62,5 %...

Help an 7th level Rogue Archer

Basically Rapid shot is always good, even with a medium BAB. At level 9 when he can get it, he will have 2 attacks per round. That will turn into 3 attacks per round with Rapid shot. Lets assume he is shooting at an enemy where he needs a 11 to hit with his first attack, and thus a 16 with his...

Help an 7th level Rogue Archer

The archer needs some way of getting Improved invisibility or Blink (both will make most of his shots sneak attacks). This could be by wand, item, friendly spellcaster etc. He needs a bow with one or more kinds of energy damage enchantment (fire, acid etc.) He needs a friendly spellcaster...

Fleshing out a character, need ideas.

It will depend partly on the dm and the nature of the game. But in a standard game with clever enemies, area of effect energy attacks and the likes you will be toast pretty fast. That is if the dm isn't taking special measures to protect you. Just look at the average hp for that theoretical...

Fleshing out a character, need ideas.

    I would have to agree with the above poster. Playing a character with a constitution of 6 is a recipe for dissapointment. your average hp will be 1: 4 2: 6 3: 7 4: 9 5: 10 6: 12 7: 13 8: 14 9: 16 10: 17 and so on.. It will be slightly better if you take levels as fighter/ranger, but not...

Is The Sunless Citadel a well-designed adventure module?

I thought a good and robust adventure. I agree that the weakest part is the interaction between the kobolds and the goblins and the goblins lack of an exit.. That it did not have major setting specific tie ins was a huge advantage to me as I used it in a homebrew world. That made it easy to fit...

    Dire Tigers are real...

Only looked at the pictures now. Yes that is one big cat. And it looks even bigger because it is also one FAT cat. The poor thing looks decidedly overweight, a real shame and its keepers are to blame!

    Dire Tigers are real...

The mental problems stems from the parents completely different behavour patterns. Lions are social animals living in small groups with a dominant female and a single (or in rare cases two brothers) male. They seek safety in numbers for greater hunting succes and protection from other predators...

    9th-level Druid build, 200 damage/round

Other than Leap attack (if thats the power that lets you charge and full attack), Dragonscale armor (who the hell are butchering all these dragons and carving them into armor anyway), Polymorph/Master of many forms (just broken) nope, other than that there is nothing in that build I would disallow.

What DO you DO for... Fighters?

I let fighters waive attribute requirements on fighter bonus feats. For instance a fighter in my games can choose Combat expertise with one of his fighter bonus feats even if his intelligence is lower than 13.

Playing the crazed wizard of the party

All in all you are playing a pretty wacky campaing where your characters are insane and evil. Nothing wrong in that if you all enjoy yourself. BUT (you just knew that was coming right) the DM made a terrible mistake in letting the new player roll up a paladin. Seriously how could it go any...

    Anyone picked up True Sorcery?

While we are on that subject. Can anyone see a reason NOT to have a focus for every spell/talent you know? There seems to be no drawback at all. You either have it and gain a +10 bonus or don't have it and cast spells as normal, or?

    Stirges.. Most broken monster ever.

Well the situation would be quite similar to a common real world mosquito and a human. I don't recall ever reading about poor fools getting their life sucked from them by mosquitos, leaving only empty bloodless husks behind. I think it would be fair to rule that Striges had little to no effect...

    I don't understand beguilers

Then knock him silly with subdual damage, manacle him, bind him, tickle him or whatever strikes your fancy. The point is that a held/incapacitated foe is as beaten as a dead one. Some would say that is even better, because you can get information from still living foes (or you could try to...

    I don't understand beguilers

And they have a ton of defensive spells that makes them hard to hit. For instance with Improved invisibility they can make pretty much every spell cast gain the benefits of cloaked and surprise casting, I think it is a great class and soooo wish they had made it like 5 years ago where I was...

Giants: How big should they be in an a Fantasy RPG?

I definately don't want giants bigger. In fact I would like monsters to be smaller and only the most extreme going beyond size large. This is due to the already mentioned problem of "how do you actually kill such a large creature with what in relative size is a toothpick" and the related other...
