    Brink of disaster roll: Sins of the father: 1D20+2 = [18]+2 = 20 Summon retry: Stubborn fool: 1D20+8 = [4]+8 = 12 And again: Foolhardy: 1D20+8 = [13]+8 = 21 . Success! Total cost to summon = 8 MPs

    Shadowrun using DnD5 [OOC]

Re consequences of nat 1 summonings, I’d suggest leaving it sort of general, so yourself and future GMs can improvise based on type of spirit, circonstances, etc? If you want to balance it without a confirmation roll, you might give something good on a nat 20?

    Shadowrun.DnD5 'DNA/DOA'

Perfect place to summon a spirit, he'd say. "Now you guys cover *me*," he echoes Juno to the others, "while I get'us some local help." He drops down into a cross-leg before the blood-stained tiles. Once settled, he pulls out and lights an old-fashion joint of all things -- nudging up the corner...

    Shadowrun using DnD5 [OOC]

Noted on the Shield. Also don't forget that Juno is looking through the dead bodies before taking off her suit (post 88). Anything in there?

    Shadowrun.DnD5 'DNA/DOA'

"Good puppy," NTensity pats it on the... turret. "Now gover there and guard that corner will you?" (The one to the east, obviously). He himself rises to peer into the b-room's broken door where that *other* disaster happened, shotgun at low-ready. "Anything, Juno?" he asks without looking...

    Shadowrun using DnD5 [OOC]

lol. Figures. :) By the way, what version of Shield did we go with again? The one where you spend an MP at casting to cast it, or the one where you spend an MP as reaction each time you use it? If it's the former, that's the version Ntensity is casting now.

    Shadowrun using DnD5 [OOC]

Did you ever use those tables!? Loved the concept back then, but never found a DM willing to go those lengths. :D

    Shadowrun.DnD5 'DNA/DOA'

"That was... fun," quips the troll, holding his huge fist for Diggs the dwarf to bump -- a heartfelt thank you for the timely rescue. Close one too. Before doing anything else, the shaman quickly reaches into the astral and wraps Sparks' protective wings around himself, tiny blue sparks...

    Shadowrun using DnD5 [OOC]

Now that you mention it, AD&D did something similar where you added your weapon speed to your ini (spells had a speed too)... Good times. :) 5E's trying to be a bit more streamlined though, for good or bad

    Shadowrun using DnD5 [OOC]

Been meaning to get familiar with GURPS... but it hasn't happened yet :) What's the Bulk mechanics, GK, and how does it help balance things?

    Shadowrun using DnD5 [OOC]

tglassy: Are you maybe basing your opinions on shooting a gun on fixed targets at a shooting range, under relaxed and uncluttered conditions? Studies and first-hand accounts tend to show that battle stress, combined with erratic movement (you *and* your target), the other guy trying to actively...

    Shadowrun using DnD5 [OOC]

@tglassy: Then you're just gaming the system. The system itself is trying to be as close a representation of real life logic and physics as it can, while still remaining playable. One of the basic assumption of turn-based combat systems is that *everybody* is doing all they can not to get hit...

    Shadowrun using DnD5 [OOC]

You do get a bonus to attacks and damage roll when at close range (with a little training), it's called Point Blank Shot. :) In general though, you're perhaps neglecting the other half of the equation: it's not just about how easy it is to hit the other guy, it's also about not being hit in...

    Shadowrun using DnD5 [OOC]

So firing heavy pistols, machine pistols, SMGs and shotguns in melee is ok? That... seems a little extreme. A guy with something heavier than a light pistol would normally be at a definite disadvantage vs a guy with a sword at melee ranges: either sticking his arm out to be cut before he can...

    Shadowrun using DnD5 [OOC]

While on rules: I think firing with ranged weapons in melee is at Disadvantage in 5E? (Not that it matters IC right now, mind). It's one of the reasons Ntensity backed-up instead of shooting his shotgun In GK's earlier SW 5E, there was the Pistoleer Feat that allowed you to ignore that for...

    Shadowrun.DnD5 'DNA/DOA'

"And neither are those!" NTEnsity has barely time enough to raise his shotgun *halfway* before he's got a faceful of rage-beast to contend with. Too close! "F**k!" A forwards kick into the mutant's squishy chest - thank you f***ing combat boots! - allows him enough space to back away AND lift...

    Shadowrun using DnD5 [OOC]

As NTensity is busy not getting eaten this round, tglassy maybe you could have Fluffy roll/jump down with an acrobatics/piloting roll? He's got enough armor on not to feel it if he misses anyway :)

    Shadowrun.DnD5 'DNA/DOA'

@jonathonhawke: The hole NTensity made is 15' closer to Davos' original position, hence the remaining move, I think. "Welcome back," tuskily smiles the troll to Juno -- although all she can see is his eyes crinkling under the mask. "Thought we'd lost yo-" Then the weakened vent under him...

    Shadowrun using DnD5 [OOC]

Hey there, GreenKarl Went ahead and posted a conditionnal action for our troll. Could you look it over though? I wasn't sure if you had to roll a magical attack against something unmoving at melee range (?). Treat it as Unconscious maybe? (Advantage tohit and auto-crit if attacker within 5 feet)

    Shadowrun.DnD5 'DNA/DOA'

Delay until after Juno. Aw, screw it! NTensity raises his meaty fist right up to the vent ceiling - the max it can go -, but his muscles keep bunching and bunching as if he was *still* cranking up the power... and then slams down against the thin bottom, blue sparks dancing! Actions: Casting...
