Iron Heroes might work if you can get your hands on it. There is only one spellcasting class, and it has built in limitations.

It really depends on your group. Some DM's have to houserule things, but some games run great without modifications.

Most of the time I make them ask for it. If I think they deserve one without asking I roll for them secretly. If I say "roll sense motive" it is almost automatically assumed the NPC is not being completely truthful, and rightfully so.

"Full Casting" is misleading. The arcane spells are a lot better than the divine spells. The squishy wizard is still the most powerful class according to most people.

Every group is different. I would play the game first. If you have any issues come to the boards, and go from there. What works for one group may not work for another group.
