RPG Crowdfunding News 079: John Carter of Mars, The Widow’s Tear, Children of the Apocalypse, A Nigh

They probably mean interplanetary romance. IIRC (been about 35 years since I read the books) John Carter and the Martian princess are an item.

Unearthed Arcana Spores, Brutes, and Inventors: Unearthed Arcana Brings You Three New Subclasses

The spore druid reaction mechanic is wacky. It should be a bonus action since it doesn't appear to be a reaction to anything and can only happen on your turn.

    D&D Movie/TV New D&D Movie: July 23rd 2021

I would disagree. The three major races in Greyhawk... Pure Flan have bronze skin that varies from a light copper hue to a dark, deep brown. Flan eyes are typically dark brown, black, brown, or amber. Hair is wavy, curly and typically black or brown (or any shade between). The Flan have broad...

Blowing it All Up and Starting Over

Another reason to run in Greyhawk, they stopped messing with it! :) In all seriousness, I actually prefer a rich background and wealth of source material but then leave the setting alone. My players will customize it from there. I am not a huge fan of world shattering events, they can be hard...

The D&D Shared Universe We're Already Playing

The concept of a D&D shared universe may be putting the cart before the horse. They first need to make a single, decent, D&D movie. Unless that movie is successful, it won't matter.

Chaosium Announces Upcoming Community Creator Program Called Miskatonic Repository

As a very sporadic Cthulu GM, this is great news! It is hard to find good one-off adventures for Cthulu, this should solve that problem.

Designing RPG Adventures With the Players And Not the GM In Mind, Part One

Ironic this article appears today, I have been thinking about this topic of late. I have been running some Adventurer's League adventures and the quality varies wildly. In some of them, it is clear the adventure designer has taken the "I am going to push the players through my story" approach...

Two Days Left To Vote For Most Anticipated RPG of 2018!

It is not so much about porting it as it is using the setting for new content. I have a bunch of stuff tied to Greyhawk I could offer on DM's Guild. But, it is not allowed since all content needs to either be setting neutral or FR. It would be possible to make it setting neutral, but it...

Defend the Realm! Support our Troops! Play some games! New 5E Charity Humble Bundle Launched!

AFAIK, you can designate your entire payment to go to the charity, so FGG would get zero compensation from your purchase.

Defend the Realm! Support our Troops! Play some games! New 5E Charity Humble Bundle Launched!

I believe you have the ability to choose a different charity if that is the issue.

Good content. Good cause. No Brainer. Bought and downloaded.

D&D 5E (2014) Do things cleaned by Prestidigitation stay clean after the duration is over?

The cantrip also only cleans 'an object no larger than 1 cubic foot' with each casting. A strict interpretation would require multiple casting to clean each item in your wardrobe i.e. cleaning a pair of boots would require two castings. (I don't play it that way, but I had noticed that wording...

D&D 5E (2014) A simple solution to 'easy mode D&D' and the 6-8 combats problem

I find the action economy also hurts monsters. Often, they have some really cool ability, but it is rarely worth wasting their action on it. I have begun to allow many monsters to use their non-damaging abilities as bonus actions and it makes the combats more interesting. Otherwise, I...

Sean's Picks of the Week (1113-1117) - Get Your GURPS Week!

5e books are MSRP of $49.95. These PDF's are listed at $25-$30, which seems reasonable at a normal print copy price point of $50. Of course, Amazon sells 5e for around $30. That price point makes these PDF's seem overpriced. In a perfect world, we would pay $30 for a hardback, $15-$20 for...

Over Half Of New D&D Players Got Into Game From Watching Online Play

I have been playing for a very long time, but did enjoy the handful of episodes of Critical Role that I watched. It was interesting to see how Matt Mercer DM'd (I rarely play, so I tend to view it from a DM perspective). Eventually, I decided I didn't have 4 hours a week to watch other...

    Racial Feats on D&D Beyond

Most D&D Beyond entries have an entry listing the source of the feat/spell/ability/etc. Just make sure it is from Xanathar's and you have chosen Xanathar's as your +1 for the character in question.

    Stranger Things Loses its Mind

The true gem within Stranger Things is that the kids use their D&D experience as a foundation upon which to understand the happenings around them. While the adults have trouble rationalizing the goings on, the kids just put a label on it and come up with a course of action. This is the most...

The State of D&D: Products, Psionics, Settings, & More

With all the talk about psionics, my guess is Darksun will be the next setting they will introduce. No chance I would move my home game, but I wouldn't mind playing/running some Adventurer's League content in that setting.

WotC Is Hiring A New D&D Game Designer

I remember hearing a story about some shoe repair guy who borrowed some money from a friend to start his little game company...wondered what ever happened to that guy...

WotC Is Hiring A New D&D Game Designer

I often see responses from designers/writers in forum threads when someone mentions their work. There are probably a lot of people on this board who meet the requirement. I know I do either through dmsguild work or some credited work I did in the 90's for a video game developer.
