    D&D 4E Should 4e convert to metric?

12 is a much better number for divisibility than 10. Furlong is archaic. It's only relevence today in America is its tenuous connection to the acre. A statute mile is a mile which is 5280 feet or 1760 yards. These numbers aren't that hard to remember. Same way you convert square cm to...

    4E OGL Material?

Intellectual Property protections: - Copyright is for specific expressions of an idea (more than a few words). - Trademark is for names and symbols. - Patent is for process or idea. The only one of these that applies to the underlying system of 4e is patent. To my knowledge WotC has not...

    4E OGL Material?

Interesting analogy as many record companies and artists are finding out that not listening to what their customers want isn't helping their bottom line very much.

D&D 4E Preparing for 4e - What campaign will you run?

Homebrew, trying to take into account everything that has been gleaned from their previews. Rather than the ancient fallen empire that is so common in campaigns, I am using an empire on the verge of collapse run by Hobgoblins. Other races are lower class citizens that cannot hold office or...

    D&D Worlds

Nyambe was D&D in blackface no more that Oriental Adventures was D&D in yellowface. I rather liked it as a drop-in continent for more traditional settings. The fact that it fit well with standard D&D is a good thing for that type of use.

Pretty sure this was intended as a setting.

So what's gold gonna be for?

For starters, we can start having a world where an adventurer's socio-economic status doesn't determine their power. You can have a poor 15th level mercenary who can slay a dragon, or a wealthy 1st level nobleman "slumming" with a local group of ne'er-do-wells. On top of that, wealth...

    iTouch - Who's buying it?

It won't play 99% of the music files I own (wma and ogg) and Apple doesn't have any software to manage a conversion. When someone gets Linux running on it I might think about it, though. People need to stop buying into the concept of vendor lock-in and corporate ownership of content that their...

    Wheel of Time?

It was too long to economically be released as one book. From what I recall, book binding or paper or something was expensive at the time.

D&D 4E Really?? Is RPGA really the best place to test 4e

What I mean by story based games is those that have a continuing arc complete with downtime, extra-adventure plot threads, etc. RPGA doesn't really offer this. Most home campaigns do. It's not arbitrary in the context of game testing. A group of RPGA gamers will very likely play the game in...

D&D 4E Really?? Is RPGA really the best place to test 4e

That's bull. There are plenty of story-based gamers who can run loops around almost any RPGA member when it comes to rules and balance. And a decision to restrict multiclassing based on some groups' campaigns is the game designers choice, not the tester. I don't know of any heavy role players...

D&D 4E Really?? Is RPGA really the best place to test 4e

I disagree. It lends itself well to discovering flaws that come up in RPGA style games. It's not as good at discovering flaws in the average home game. I think 3e can attest to that. From what I recall, 3e was tested in the same way. Many rules work fine within the structure of encounter...

    Warlock confirmed in PH1...

I'm not too sure of what an arcane character without casting would be, unless you mean something like a bard where only part of his abilities are casting. Either way, WotC has been saying the distinction between Sorcerer and Wizard is bigger now.

    How Obvious is Fast Healing?

I would probably give each character fighting them in melee a spot check each round DC (20 - fast healing rate)

Dave Noonan Responds about Wizard Implements

I thought it was terrible for flavor. Every cleric is basically the same mechanically. Spheres were much better.
