    ghoul touch mechanics question

The Fortitude negates in the text refers to other characters avoiding the stench, not whether or not the stench occurs. The target gets a Fort save to avoid the effects entirely. If he fails, he's paralyzed and emitting a stench. Those within 10 ft. radius spread then must make a Fortitude...

Finally figured out why I hate D&D novels.

Stop reading Forgotten Realms. None of the other D&D novel series are like this.

Is the SIZE modifier more trouble than it's worth?

That doesn't really make sense. You're hidden or you're not. Except in the most extreme of cases, the size of the spotter makes no difference. Also, by making it a circumstance bonus, you have to calculate it every time. With the current system, everything's always added in and makes sense...

Plain ol' Fighters: Likes & Dislikes?

Fighters rock. The number of feats makes them highly customizable to fit different character concepts, something I think should be in all classes. The only ones that match this are sorcerer and wizard.

What do you look for in a D&D/RPG web site?

Either lively on-going discussion or finished products (as opposed to random rule bits here and there).

The Modifier Beast [culling the herd]

I think I'd actually make alot of alchemical bonuses enhancement bonuses. Many of the bonus types can pretty much only be applied once and should be untyped. The ones that DO stack with one another should just be untyped (no reason to name them if they stack). Ability -> Untyped Alchemical ->...

Is it wrong for NPCs to block a 'detect evil' check by a PC?

Wow, are people really that cynical? I wouldn't expect more than 33% evil (probably a bit less, more neutral than good or evil).

    Knights - Likes & Dislikes

You could easily say the same thing about the paladin. Or even the ranger and barbarian. Perhaps you should check out Buy the Numbers [ http://www.iguk.co.uk/products/buy-the-numbers-d20-supplement-4502.aspx ]

Is the SIZE modifier more trouble than it's worth?

Actually, it would be reasonable to apply the opposite of the standard grapple size modifier to the AC of the defender and attack roll of the attacker for the purposes of initiating a grapple. It can be hard to get a good hold on something small and squirming, but once you've got it, it's not...

Is the SIZE modifier more trouble than it's worth?

If you're referring to the monster advancement by hit dice that's kind of a special case comparing, say, large bears to huge bears. Not medium dogs to large bears.

Mearls idea on modifiers in D&D

Man, there is a serious problem if Excel is required to play a game. Unless it's a flight simulator (bonus points if you understand this joke)

Mearls idea on modifiers in D&D

About half of the parties in my gaming group have bards. Admittedly, Protection From Evil isn't a common spell, but both Combat Expertise and fighting defensively are common tactics. Perhaps your group fights against only a couple of different kinds of enemies for which these options are not...

Is it wrong for NPCs to block a 'detect evil' check by a PC?

Well, according to the RAW, one can expect to find significant minority populations of evil individuals in the halfling and human races. Humans don't have a monster entry, but one can assume that their alignment would be listed as "often neutral" which would mean about 25% or more of them were...

    Take 10.5

I'd take that in a heartbeat. It's actually too powerful. I take 10 on just about everything unless I have a good idea that the result is going to fail.

Is the SIZE modifier more trouble than it's worth?

I'm a huge fan of the size mods. They're plausible, easy to remember, and elegant. I don't really find them to be unbalancing since Large creatures will just get higher CRs anyway. And imagine a player's reaction when they lost in a grapple with a 3" tall fairy. That's just silly. They...

    Kyle XY

Krycek isn't a villain. He wants to save the world from the invasion by working with the aliens long enough to come up with a way to fight against them. Same as C.G.B. Spender (this one's more debatable). Certainly an antagonist, but I wouldn't call him a villain.

    Silly House Rules

I like all the house rules in our game. I may be biased as I am the DM. Seriously, though, I don't mind house rules unless they are sprung on me out of nowhere. In my current campaign, the only bit of house rules I have is a Feat that was necessary to make one of the character's concepts work...
