don't insult the purpose of a door by locking it

Roger Moore invented the Kender personality in the short story "A Stone's Throw Away", published some time before the Chronicles. As to gaming, I highly doubt that anyone during that period wasn't thinking about gaming while writing Dragonlance. The setting was created for the purpose of epic...

Info from the WotC 2007 January to April Catalog

Complete Scoundrel - Intrigue should be covered by a Heroes of Intrigue book and not tacked on to this. We''l see. Dungeonscape - If this is really good it could be pretty nice to have to spark ideas for dungeons. I personally find it difficult to run a good dungeon adventure because I...

Van Richten's Guide to the Shadow Fey is an excellent book dealing with creatures like that.

Add to that the cleric rebuke ability and you have 5HD worth of undead.

    Converting Iron Heroes

OK, we were using the base IH assumptions. So IH characters did not have magic and the D&D characters did.

    Dragon Mountain

I loved this adventure. The party I ran through it made it all the way to the dragon (in the form of a captured friendly kobold) who led them to her lair, polymorphed and breathed. Two of the three party members died outright. The third had fire resistance from two different sources, reducing...

what would you be in the dungeons and Dragons world?

My thought is anyone who works in skilled trade or a professional is an expert. Those working in blue-collar positions such as factory or warehouse style work be commoner. Athletes, soldiers and law enforcement would be warriors. Politicians could be considered aristocrats. Unless there are...

what would you be in the dungeons and Dragons world?

That's a poor way of determining Int. IQ is basically intended to measure what percentile you fall into. At 153, I'm pretty sure you'd have an Int of 18. 18 is not that uncommon. 1/216 if you are rolling 3d6. Much better chances if rolling 4d6 and dropping.

what would you be in the dungeons and Dragons world?

6th level human expert Str 11 - based on lifting/dragging rules from PHB Dex 9 - best guess as I'm slightly below average Con 8 - best guess, I'm healthy but have no ability to do aerobic activity Int 19 - based on IQ and rate of incidence in real-world/D&D Wis 12 - most people believe I am, but...

    NPC classes

In my opinion, barbarian IS the primitive wilderness tribe's warrior, rogue IS the bandit expert, etc. I think these roles should be filled by characters who are a bit beefier than your average warrior or expert.

Help a gamer friend of mine with bad stat rolls.

If I were the DM, and I decided I wanted 3d6 straight up, then no, I wouldn't allow a reroll. That defeats the purpose. As a player, I'd live with it. I'm thinking Fighter/Wizard, with archery as my main fighting style.

Lady in the Water Predictions and possible spoilers

I really liked the Village. Like Unbreakable, certain parts of the movie were really inspiring in the teutonic quest sort of manner.

Who is your favorite poet(s) and why?

Whoever wrote Beowulf is awesome. Poe Milton Alighieri Update: Beowulf is just a great read. It flows like a real story and keeps your interest in the goings-on of the tale. Edgar Allen Poe's rhythm, alliteration... everything is absolutely magical. Hearing a Poe poem spoken aloud is like...

gimme a hand with my dm

Usually when I disallow a race it is due to the flavor of the campaign, not the mechanics. If that's the case, dropping bonuses isn't going to help. You need to come up with a very solid reason: 1. How your parentage occurred 2. How you fit into society as a child 3. How you were raised 4. If...

"Prestige Caster" -Casters as Prestige Classes

I did this in one of my campaigns for wizards only (not druids, clerics, etc). Prereqs were something along the lines of: 5 ranks Craft (alchemy) 5 ranks Spellcraft 5 ranks Use Magic Device The design consideration was that someone who wanted to become a wizard quickly could take a couple...

    Who's best in this scenario?

Monk or sorcerer with a few critical metamagic feats based on my spell selection. Short of that a rogue or bard with good charisma may be able to trick the guards. Also useful for a bard is if they had taken a Perform skill that does not require an instrument (dancing, singing, oration).
