    Little Known Rules of D&D

I know of, and use, both of those rules... :)

This "resting at 9:05 AM" business

Some (many?) people do not want to continuously rely on magic items to make their character even mildly functional and useful. Since 4e is getting rid of this atrocious mentality (at least they say they are) it makes sense to ignore this as an option. The thing is a game designed to handle...

What would you do - xp award

Effectively avoiding combat is worthy of XP, though IMO not as worthy as being in mortal danger. I would give PC #3 approx. half of what the other two got for that particular encounter, placing him only about 25% behind the others in overall experience gain.

Why do you think warforged = robots?

I think alot of it has to do with the artists. Warforged look like robots. Additionally, a construct's personality is usually close to what one might expect out of a robot.

    New Design article: Elves

Warriors works even better than the 3e arcane elves (by the sound of it). And Tolkien elf magic was nature magic. Not sure the reference really applies.

Getting randomized miniatures from online boosters- Get real

I concur. If these minis are randomized it's a deal breaker for me. I wasn't even aware they would charge for them at all, so I'm already taken aback. The only possible model I would be willing to buy into (literally) is minis cost about $0.10 and you can select which you would like to buy...

D&D 4E 4e Special Ability PER Encounter stinks...

I am not sure if the 2 hour figure is game time or play time, but either way I have had many encounters that go over that number. Game time example: chase scene through city Play time example: too numerous to count, 3e battles took freaking forever...

D&D 4E 4e Special Ability PER Encounter stinks...

What is the problem with the DM defining when an encounter begins and ends? She knows more about the encounter than anyone else... Personally when I DM, I would consider and encounter as any type of continuous conflict without break. I would require about 5 minutes of downtime between...

    Emphasizing Law vs. Chaos

Most of the games I've been in are exactly opposite. I think the rules definitely put more focus on G/E, but I think L/C is much more interesting for role playing.

    New name for Warlord

Actually, I was saying that the word marshal as someone who can be found in battle sounds modern. And the link you provide backs me up.

    New name for Warlord

I didn't see your previous comment, but I agree Warrior would be an excellent choice. I think the difference between a Fighter who is great at martial combat and a Warrior who knows how battles are to be fought are fairly obvious when one thinks about it and they would both be wholely...

    New name for Warlord

Sorry if you took offense. None was intended. Dunno if it makes a difference, but I find a great number of WotC's class names to be cheesy and dumb as well (primarily prestige classes).

    D&D 3.x Will 3.5 hurt sales for 4E?

But with the new plan to release a PHB, MM, DMG II, III, etc... every year, there is no need to release a new version. They can put new subsystems into the DMG and PHB or errata or even completely revise the way something works. I'm all for this. The ability to get iterative updates would be...

    D&D 4E The WotC designers will be bashing 4e once 5e is announced . . .

Hey, some of us have been bitching about 3e for years, thank you very much... And most of the changes for 4e are very welcome in my opinion.

    New name for Warlord

Yes, but I was supporting a previous post's comment that the word sounded too modern. Most people I game with avoid using particularly modern terms to refer to things in D&D. For instance, I would not expect a character to describe a recently "doppleganged" king as having "jumped the shark"...

    New name for Warlord

The term marshal in that context would be an anachronism to Medieval Europe.

    New name for Warlord

Warlord is good. Commander and Herald are also good choices. Pretty much every other option is terrible. Battlesmith - one who forges battles? This is cheesy and dumb... Cavalier - horseman, has nothing to do with leadership except the wealthy could afford to be cavaliers and so they tended...

D&D 4E How Would You Like 4e To Be Advertised?

Animated television show. Should be appropriate for kids but engaging for geek adults. A serialized story would be a must. Tie-in with a commercial every episode if necessary, but I think most people know that D&D is a game, so it might not be necessary at all. Focused, traveling games...

    Games in San Diego

    What is your favorite beer?

That's an old favorite of mine. I wonder if I'll be able to find any in San Diego... San Diego's Stone Brewing Company's got quite a few decent beers, though I'm not a fan of the Arrogant Bastard except for it's alcohol content.
