D&D 5E (2024) YOU are in charge of the next PHB! What do you change?

No, I was being serious. I think that bards are too powerful as is, but making them half casters would make them too week. A three quarters caster would top out with 7th level spells at L17, just as a half caster gets L5 spells at L17. (The Bards L8 spell Glibness is pretty cool, I would keep...

D&D 5E (2024) YOU are in charge of the next PHB! What do you change?

I would like to see more (probably most) spells scale, not just the damage spells. Most up-cast protective spells would probably have longer durations, and not greater effect; so a L9 Shield spell still gives only +5 AC, but it lasts for 9+ full rounds. Oh, and a much better index.

D&D General How many hours of D&D would you say you have played in your entire life?

Played? Maybe 1,000 hours. Ran? Maybe 2,500 hours. Prepped to run? Maybe 1,000 hours. Read? Maybe 1,000 hours. This is starting in late 1978.

Dragonlance (+) What Would You Want From 5e Dragonlance?

For them to finally realize that this is a setting for novels and not a setting for gaming. It's always been too railroady and too restrictive and modern gamers hate, hate, hate both of those. But if they really have to do it, than they should use the Devotion rules from Theros to measure...

D&D 5E (2024) YOU are in charge of the next PHB! What do you change?

That's why we need the three-quarters caster bard, the perfect compromise between two weak and too strong. (If we can have quarter casters like Arcane Trickster and half casters like Paladin than we can have three quarters casters too).

D&D 5E (2014) Hypothetical Revised PHB: What Subclasses Makes the Cut?

They can smite on any hit but that's just a trick to get Paladins to waste their smites. Maximum damage output per day requires that you only use it on a 20.

D&D 5E (2014) Hypothetical Revised PHB: What Subclasses Makes the Cut?

Disclaimer - Answers may be broader than original question Ranger - rewrite the basic Ranger to not have spells (and to be a bit more powerful). Include Expertise in Nature or Survival at Tier 3 and in both by Tier 4. Create sub classes that do have spells in a manner similar to Arcane...

Planescape Planescape Artist Tony DiTerlizzi Shares Planescape Playlist

He listened to the 2000 remix of "Tracks and Lines" in 1994? Wow, I guess D&D really is magic.

WotC What classic setting SHOULD WotC publish and why?

Pelinore. The world is flat and British and centered on cities (but not in an excessive Ravnicaesque way). Pelinore

What is the biggest starship deck plan available

I believe that that would be the pdf version of the Classic Traveller games that includes all the deck plans for the Azanti High Lightning. It is about 35 million cubic feet (what Traveller calls 70,000 displacement tons at about 500 cubic feet each) and the deck plans are complete. Marc Miller...

D&D General Exclusive Subclasses for Nonhuman PC races in an Almost Old School World

Gnomes would be built to be Artificers. Gnome racial spells and powers would be altered to fit into their class (As in Dragonlance but without the constant failures and explosions). Maybe only Gnomes can become Artificers.

D&D General Exclusive Subclasses for Nonhuman PC races in an Almost Old School World

Tiefling racial powers like Hellish rebuke would be integrated with Warlock class spells. Tieflings would be designed to be Infernal Pact Warlocks. When they make a deal with a fiend it's really just their fiendish ancestor helping them out. Maybe only Tieflings can become Warlocks?

    1920 Pulp Dinosaurs?

Have it spotted from the air by a famous aviator. No one believed his dinosaur stories so the PC's are the only ones he can talk into exploring it for him.

D&D 5E (2014) Lightning Bolt should be better.

What if metal armor gave disadvantage on saves versus Lightning bolts? (Precedent - Shocking Grasp is more likely to hit a metal armed target, why shouldn't Lighting Bolt be the same?) Fireball would still be better, but you would have closed part of the gap.

WotC So, when do the announce the July book? Guesses on what it'll be? 🤔

I am expecting a second Critical Role book, presumably about the other continent, someday. Why would the one from Green Ronin have gone out of print unless either WOTC or Mercers own company are planning on doing one themselves?

D&D 5E (2014) Why are potions of healing so expensive?

If you look at the prices of food and lodging 1 GP is more like $80, so 50 GP is more like $4,000. Also, D&D settings have third world economies and thus many people do not earn 50 GP ($4,000) per year.

    D&D 5E (2014) Blind Characters in 5e

Ye, of course, if the flaw is as bad as Blindness. Every round every player should always be asking themselves how they can gain Inspiration this round or how thy can spend or give away the Inspiration they already have. Five times a session per party is a low number. Five times in five years is...

Official News Let’s Look At The Level Up Character Sheet

I'm not saying it should be a separate skill. I'm saying that if it is a separate skill than these are examples of some of the times I would link it to Strength.
