Can you help me flesh out an adventure concept?

It's a lot of work to build a brand new level 3 solo that resembles an undead dragon. If you're interested in using the undead dragon in an encounter with allies, there's a few existing zombies you could reskin. Corruption Corpse (Level 4 Artillery) goes down well at the table. Just say its...

Pathfinder 1E WotC desperately needs to learn from Paizo and Privateer Press

Wow. I do love BECMI (and 4e). I just said so in another thread. Is there really a correlation between fans of BECMI and 4e fans? Is there a similar correlation between haters of the two?

Do you run or play in a Sandbox or Linear game

The point is, the party came back online and finished the AP. In Thunderspire Labyrinth they picked up one of the hooks I threw in which led them afterward to the Oasis of the Golden Peacock (from Dungeon magazine) and then on to some zany hijinks in an old colony of Arkhosia. I ended up...

    What makes a Sandbox?

You'd be surprised how poorly I speak, given I write fairly well (in my opinion anyway). I haven't been well-spoken since I started high school. After school it was over a decade of construction, then infantry. Now I'm doing something a bit more cerebral, including verbal briefing, and I'm...

    More "realistic" advancement in D&D?

Excellent point. The power curve is at least as important as the rate of advancement.

Do you run or play in a Sandbox or Linear game

I can in the sense that it still 'runs' in the background. Especially a world-shaker like that, it can be fun having the repurcussions get all up in the PCs' business.

Do you run or play in a Sandbox or Linear game

Depends how you run them. I recently finished the WotC AP and my group 'came off the rails' a few times. I was happy with that and was more than prepared to ditch the AP and write up one of the other plot hooks if the players ran with it, but end-of-the-world hooks have a way of grabbing most...

    More "realistic" advancement in D&D?

Firstly, Gladiator isn't exaclty a new movie - in a few hours it will be ten years old. Secondly, two examples don't make a trend. While I agree with you, and James Bond seems to support the trend (as do the Die Hard films), comic books would appear to defy this trend, if it does exist.

Do you run or play in a Sandbox or Linear game

    It depends who you ask.

Do you run or play in a Sandbox or Linear game

Are you saying your game is a sandbox, where your players have the illusion of being railroaded? So much awesome.

Wrong forum mate. This one's for arguing the definition of 'sandbox'.

    Question for our Aussie Mates

I'm no hardcore gamer, which is probably why I can't name any for you. I believe RedBrick Limited are based in New Zealand, which is where all famous Australians come from.

Do you run or play in a Sandbox or Linear game

Mine's a railbox (or a sandroad, I haven't decided yet). The players are free to do as they please and ignore every plot hook, and I'll just come up with more (or at least, reskin old ones). But I like epic stories so I tend to throw plot hooks at them that they can't ignore. That said, my...

    What makes a Sandbox?

Actually that's exactly what the OP was asking. The original post is branched from another thread where I asked the question myself and another poster answered that he didn't know either. Here: Hence the question of where the line is drawn. Where exactly do we stop generalising and start...

    Plots in a Sandbox

Just because you're continually avoiding it doesn't make it an innocuous question. And it will become extremely relevant the next time somebody is told their game is NOT A SANDBOX. Unless that thinking has been put to bed by all this.

    More "realistic" advancement in D&D?

I think each edition has been an evolution of previous editions in response to the market/community. I've been playing D&D since 1985 and it's always felt tlike D&D to me. I didn't like 2e as much as BECMI but I felt 3e was the best edition at that point as is 4e right now. I have high hopes...

    More "realistic" advancement in D&D?

I think "never" is a fallacy given the current (and some would say previous) editions of the game.
