    Textbox problems

I ended up switching to the plain textbox editor, since it doesn't eat line breaks, but that means I have to write all my BBCode by hand.

    Gaming w/Jemal : Star Drift

Though I'd suggest as a matter of practicality that aliens (or robots, depending on how good AI is in this universe) really ought to be able to speak 'common' natively or have a 'universal translator' on-hand (or not-so-universal). Wookie roars and R2D2 beeps might be okay in movies, but they're...

    Gaming w/Jemal : Star Drift

If you can do large-scale things in space, that means you pretty much have access to an entire star system's resources. And that's... a lot (consider that everything the human race has used, ever, is a small fraction of what's available on earth... and that's a tiny percentage of what's just in...

    Gaming w/Jemal : Star Drift

Well, maybe a little. I mean, they certainly wouldn't admit to actively working to hide 'under the radar' during the war (and in fact that they had intelligence agents systematically erase evidence of the colony from the greater civilization would be very embarrassing, if anyone still alive knew...

    Gaming w/Jemal : Star Drift

(ignoring the 'how weird should aliens be' talk for a bit) FWIW, I really didn't have a lot of concept fleshed out for my 'Victorians'; for my purposes, the similarities with Imperial-era Britain could be superficial at best. I probably should note here that I envision that it is possible...

    Gaming w/Jemal : Star Drift

On a very cursory flip-through of Stars w/o number, I'd vote M&M. Cool. I think I'd lean explorers, though accidental refugees might be fun too. ... which suggests that in this universe the overwhelming majority of stars have no habitable worlds; there are tens of thousands of stars in a...

    Gaming w/Jemal : Star Drift

Hmm... I was wondering if I'd be able to drop a planet as sort of stereotypical Victorian England in space (which is to say stuffy arrogant SOBs, don't have a lot of regard for 'barbarian' cultures no matter how friendly they might be with individual 'barbarians', will try to press their...

    Gaming w/Jemal : Star Drift

Well, my attempts to run sci-fi (or at least Star Wars) games have tended to fizzle, but I'd probably be interested (especially if M&M or something else I've got or can make sense of from what's free online).

    Beginner Artificer help

You can burn action points to reduce casting times on infusions. It's rather helpful when you don't have time to prep.

    Textbox problems

I'm not getting new lines when I hit enter in the new thread form, quick reply form, or when I hit 'go advanced' on a reply (and this happens in FireFox and IE10). Any idea what's up? It's recent; it wasn't happening a few days ago.

    [Tavern] Tower's Shard 2011

I think KarinsDad has a low-level adventure in the pipeline. I had Tana (gnome Swordmage 5) register her presence without participating in the conversation a little bit up-thread.

    [Tavern] Tower's Shard 2011

Tana, gnome female swordmage 5 Tana barely even looks up at the argument over the viability of pacifist philosophy for an adventurer. If they wanted to argue about something interesting, say the competing theories for how various races came to Khorvaire, or the nature of some arcane phenomena...

    LEB - Upcoming Adventures Thread

Depending on who would work better, I could have Narvala (invoker 9, after level up) around instead of Tana (swordmage 5) Sent from my Nokia Lumia 920 using Board Express

    D&D 5E (2014) Is the d20 sacred?

Also, +X/-X items and any conditions or buff/debuff effects that hand out flat bonuses or penalties do really strange things to probability on 3d6 (if you're using them like a D&D 3.x or 4e d20).

D&D 5E (2014) "But Wizards Can Fly, Teleport and Turn People Into Frogs!"

It's very hard for that kind of system to not end up with either ineffectual/unuseable magic (because the costs are high enough no one is willing to use it, ala the Force in the first two versions of WotC Star Wars) or broken magic (because the costs are low enough that it's not really a limit)...

D&D 5E (2014) "But Wizards Can Fly, Teleport and Turn People Into Frogs!"

There are lots of ways of doing limitations and costs. But many of them lead to a far less rewarding play experience. I really think most people do need to contribute meaningfully in each round of combat, or at least attempt to. Otherwise it leads to players becoming disengaged with the game...

D&D 5E (2014) "But Wizards Can Fly, Teleport and Turn People Into Frogs!"

Because spending rounds doing nothing, or having spells fizzle far more often than the fighter's attacks miss, or declaring that wizards can only be played well by people who enjoy bookkeeping, isn't a very rewarding experience for many players if you're playing the wizard even if things average...
