    IMPORTANT! Posting WotC articles wholesale...

car crash? your being awfully nice. that site (especially the "new" gleemax forums) seem to have an uptime percentage just over 20%... its atrocious. Probably the worst web offering of any major company I have yet to run across.

D&D 4E Push the Envelope: Use 4e to make the broadest range of archetypes!

mechanically identical in game terms or historically, in game terms i would say its a fair assessment, but functionally they are very dis-similar. I would agree that two weapon fighting was quite rare, seeing as it is far more difficult as well as far less effective against armor than 2 handed...

    One concern (sorta)

Sorry i didnt reply to this in the last post, let me clarify. The impression I have is that you will have X amount of powers but Y amount of "slots" to use them in. For example, maybe at level 12 you choose another encounter power (your 4th one lets say), but you still can only "prepare" 3...

    One concern (sorta)

I am eager to see what they do with illusions in this edition also, the vast amount of creativity that you can display (and benefit from) with illusions is astounding and one of my favorite parts of 3.x. I know some things you could previously do with illusions wont be possible (too potentially...

    One concern (sorta)

I am beyond pumped for 4e, it seems like it will have just about everything that i would want in a RPG system. The one thing i have been wondering about, and slightly concerned about, is the number of dailies and encounter abilities that you can have "memorized" in one day. Although it is not...

Give Stephen Colbert a free copy of Dungeons and Dragons 4th edition

I endorse your cause, but I will have absolutely nothing to do with facebook. Would be soooo awesome. It would certainly help to eliminate the moms-basement dwellling cheeto-fingered too-small-tshirt-with-pithy-quote wearing mountain-dew guzzling image that gamers have at the moment. And...

    D&D 4E Early Days of 4e will be a Gearhead's Paradise

Am I the only person who thought "gear" in the steroid sense? I had a really funny mental image of Ronnie Coleman and Jay Cutler sitting around a table and playing dungeons and dragons. Jay: I cast magic missle! Ronnie: I rip off his arm and kill the rest of them with it. DM: the RAW dont...

    AD&D 2E 2E Druid as 4e Wizard Variant: Advice?

Awesome powers, but what level are they, they are pretty awesomely powerful. Call lightning has a max damage of 525! (25 square area, assuming a +5 wis modifier) or much higher than that if at a higher level than 1 (up to 900 at level 30!) The "on miss" damage isnt too bad either.

Displacement - a bit wussy eh? Mirror image too...

the power gamer in me sheds a tear at the plight of the wizard/druid/cleric, but every other fiber of my being rejoices. The power level of the 4e wizards will still be extremely competitive, unlike most melee classes that have suffered for the past 8 years under the reign of 3/3.5e. This...

Fireballs, Force Orbs, and Ranged Attacks

the simulationist in me loves the idea, the realist in me says it would be a nightmare to implement. (for example what if you are shooting at somebody who is 3 squares forward and one to the right... who is in the "line of fire" if that shot misses? do partial squares count?)

D&D 4E 4e Contest: Prove Nate Right - Power Attack Entry Finalists - You help decide winners

now i am even more confused, if this is "re-writes" of a 3.5e feat, with nothing to do with 4e, why is it in the 4e forum? If it is going to be in the 4e forum shouldnt it at least take the limited knowledge we have about 4e into account?

D&D 4E 4e Contest: Prove Nate Right - Power Attack Entry Finalists - You help decide winners

Just to clarify, we are talking about 4ed right? I was under the impression that weapons no longer have multipliers, crits are instead "max damage" hits. (so a 1d6 short sword would do 6 damage) I was also under the impression that iterative (multiple) attacks went the way of the dodo in...

D&D 4E What place does dual wielding have in 4E?

depends on your definition of "more accurate", harder to defend against for sure, though the precision would be lower for anyone who is not completely ambidextrous the overall effect of increasing accuracy is probably the same. Though if we were going for a strictly simulationist ideal then...

I think Barbarians should be strikers, or maybe even controllers

i kind of assume that a barbarian will be a hybrid, just like the paladin. The paladin is a defender/leader, and i can see the barbarian as a defender/striker if they focus it on high single target damage, or defender/controller if they make it based on AOE damage and fear. Druids imho will...

Joe Commoner, and his BIG AXE!!!

i can understand being scared by a mattock/pick, but i would MUCH rather be hit by a shovel than a wood axe. Maybe thats just me, either one could kill you pretty easy though.

Joe Commoner, and his BIG AXE!!!

Interesting, if that is indeed the correct translation, it suprises me that a significant amount of danish peasants had access to firearms, even primitive ones.

Joe Commoner, and his BIG AXE!!!

thrusting weapons such as the spear are also extra easy to use with a shield, which are both extremely cheap and easy to make and increase survivability exponentially. Infact, i would put my money on a unarmored spear + medium/large shield warrior over a light/medium armored shield-less warrior...

    D&D 4E 4E is like WoW (NOT!)

but are you chinese? and why arent you spamming it on all the public channels in broken english?
  19. C

Joe Commoner, and his BIG AXE!!!

another benefit of axes, picks and blunt weapons are that they are both extremely cheap/easy to make (wood shaft + metal head), incredibly durable/low matinence (dont have to worry about chipping the blade), and vastly higher effectiveness against armored foes (compared to one handed bladed...
