I like the blak and white illustrations i've been seeing. Some of the Deathwatch books have little b+w doodles throughout the book. It's a nice touch and relief from the big honkin illustrations elsewhere in the books. Just a nice little touch. foolish_mortals

guys, looking at some 2nd edition pages the other day. Saw some blue and white illustrations(like black and white, but blue and white instead). I never understood or liked that color combination. Anyone else think its a bad idea for doing monochrome illustrations? foolish_mortals

or maybe a random energy drain effect that would include level drain as a possibility. Another option is that they can scale up the energy drain according to level of the monster. Vampires drain a level with a hit, a skeleton saps yer intelligence with a hit. foolish_mortals

I never got why Balors had 8+8 HP in 1rst. There were only supposed to be 6 of them and yet they were way below Pit Fiends in HP. Not sure what would happen if I put a 1rst Pit Fiend against a Balor. I'd expect the Pit Fiend to win just by looking at the HP. But I could be wrong. Lolth only...

Bring back the ol sword of sharpness and the terrifying vorpal sword. Those were a hoot to have around. Cut off a monsters head on a role of a 19 or 20. What could be better then that? A great weapon, good as the fantastic holy avenger in the hands of a paladin. Or a trombone in the hands...

It does seem 2 different questions, how many are going to just start playing pathfinder and how many more are going to pick up the books after the big 5.00003 announcement. It seems not easy to measure from here using proxies. Maybe PaizoCON would shed some light on the situation...

I think that's one reason the first 3 4th books turned my off. It was endless pages of powers with little descriptions that I didn't really want to read. foolish_mortals

this is a good point. Drow started out as a shock, these evil elfs with all this unknown scary spells and super powerful underdark weapons. Now they've become these guys that seem to walk the street in your local fantasy setting. I'm not sure why that happened. foolish_mortals

my god, one of the things I got from WOTC last year was Gamma World. I should have looked for an unboxing video of what I was going to get before I ordered it. I got this crudy little book and some stupid cards. Always look for an unboxing video before you buy a boxed game! foolish_mortals

I have to agree. Most of the celebraties I know of that are in dnd aren't people that are that cool. Vin Disel and that guy who plays some weird conservative are the only two I can think of. Can't we get Schwartzenager? That'd be cool. foolish_mortals

they used to have a comeliness score in unearthed arcana(1rst edition) that was kinda cool. Cavaliers could improve all their abilities with each level as well. That was pretty radical in those days, still is today. foolish_mortals

Are you saying that they built their adventure modules in 4th based around abstract roles and not around what the story dictated? I haven't heard this criticism yet. So what yer saying is that they would drop a giant in a module not because it made sense to have a giant but because they needed...

I agree that is a good deal. You can get a 500-600 page book for 30$(in some places). That's quite cheap when I look at other books that size. foolish_mortals
