    Greatest roll ever

Awesome story JV. We had a D&D session once where the party was just getting their butts handed to them by a Green Dragon. The Dragon's hurt pretty bad, but we've got two members down, another at 6hp left, the party Rogue is holding on for dear life on the Dragon's back (at about 5hp left) and...

    Better with dip..

My son's running a Dragon Shaman in my Raveloft campaign, and let me tell you, that Energy Aura is a PAIN!!! (Please correct me if I'm doing this wrong) But every time a bad guy hits a party member in mellee he's taking 4 damage, that adds up quick!

    I can't believe this worked...

Heh... I had a highly skilled Rogue drink a potion of Invisibility once, and sneak down a tunnel where a mini Beholder creature (I can't remember it's name) was hiding. He made all his Move Silently checks and when he came across the creature, he threw a big burlap sack over it, and twisted...

    [April] What are you reading?

Dragons of Winter Twilight, the second Dragonlance book. Kinda slogging through it, it just aint doin' it for me. I previously JUST finished the Game of Thrones series (up to now) and that's a tough act to follow.

My First PC Kill As A DM (Sort Of)

The dude rolled a 2 and a 1. That's the way it goes. The moment you start changing encounters cause PCs "might" die, is the day you should just start storytelling instead of playing D&D. They're adventurers! If they didn't want potential danger they'd be bakers.

    Tabletop Aids

Best Initiative tool ever: Simle Index Cards. I have a card for each player and I ask them all to roll Init at the start of combat. I just write the Init at the top right of the card very small (about a 1/4" high) and then write the monster's name on a card and roll/write it's Init. Then...

    [Feb] What are you reading?

JUST finished Clash of Kings (sitting in the car at a light, on way back from lunch) and will start "Code Zero" tonight by Ken Follet. Gonna take a break from Martin, but wil pick it up with Feast for Crows in a few weeks.

    Dear Hasbro: about those minis

I just don't get the whole complaining mentality. They are what they are. Why spend time whining about it? Do you go to the supermarket and complain about the packing of the party trays? The minis WOTC produces come in random packs. That's it. Buy them or don't buy them.

ERAGON - What did you think?

But WHY does the Dragon have feathers? Ugh - as soon as I saw that I said no thanks.

    [December] What are you reading?

Did a quick read-through of Michael Ciichton's "Prey". Not bad, not bad at all. Fun, quick and very interesting. Can't figure out what to read next. Maybe "A Feast for Crows" or maybe I'll pick up Stephen Ambrose's book about B-24 crews. Any recommendations?

    [November] What are you reading?

Just started "Storm of Swords" after reading Legacy of the Drow, and Starless Night last month. However, I'm VERY excited after getting an email today that the next "Troy" book by David Gemmell is out!

    [September] What are you reading?

Hah!!! I just finished "Game of Thrones" and now I'm reading "Dragons of Autumn Twilight." Loved GoT, digging the Dragonlance book too so far.

    Colossal Red Dragon

I have several of the MacFarlane Dragons, and while they are nice, they are no where NEAR the size of this thing. It's not an apples-to-apples comparison. This beast dwarfs them. The paint job is just fine, (IMHO), I think it looks magnificent. It drew oohs and ahhs from the people I saw...

Can I Make My Games More Like Pirates of the Carribean?

I'm with Hussar. I've ran a Pirate Campaign and every time Shipt-to-ship combat begins, the session grinds to a complete halt. I ran a Pirate Campaign out of Freeport up to 10th level and the one main thing I learned is do NOT mess with ship-to-ship combat. As the DM, just describe the ships...
