D&D 5E (2014) Hypervelocity bards (WAS Fixing the bard's action economy (quick suggestion))

I think the problem here is in assuming that each "thing" a bard does is a unique action when it's probably all wrapped up in whatever performance or oratory he/she's doing. So like, rather than imagining the bard breathlessly working in a spell between inspirational motifs and reactions, etc...

    D&D 5E (2014) Natural Attacks

If you think this is bad, try listening to the pod cast where Mearls (I think it was him) talks about how "targeting" doesn't always mean what you think it means, except for when it does (but only sometimes) and others it's more of a general non-mechanical description... Yeah, 5e is a hot mess...

    D&D 5E (2014) Military food in dnd

Depends on how 'fantastic' your world is. Historically, armies that were on the march relied on a combination of hunting, gathering, and (in more settled regions) the "kindness" of the locals. Maintaining good supply lines were really important because none of those methods are really good...

    D&D 5E (2014) Stealth for the Ranger

Not really, since it doesn't seem to address the "ambush" feel of his proposed idea. The UA is more of a skirmisher type character, when the OP appears to be going for something else.

D&D 5E (2014) The Dangers of Overreliance on Leomund's Tiny Hut (3rd Level Spell)

I've become so bitter towards the abuse of all ritual spells that I don't even care about LTH anymore. I just don't bother setting up situations where it's even useful and just move on with the game. 5e has such a surprisingly narrow focus on the dungeon crawl that I feel like the designers...

D&D 5E (2014) Dealing with distracted and distracting players in an all-teen game

Being frustrated with your players is an important life-skill for DMs... Anyway, it's usually something that has to be dealt with on a per-player basis. It's also something where you really need to learn to pick your fights and not get obsessed with making sure every player is in the zone...

D&D 5E (2014) Making a bard less reliant on magic?

It's basically the way bards have been portrayed forever. The problem is (and always has been) that the bard class probably needs it's own unique spell selection so that it's capable of "casting" spells that are uniquely bard-like, rather than the normal stuff that other classes can do anyway...

    D&D 5E (2014) Stealth for the Ranger

This doesn't really seem much like a "ranger" to me, tbh. It's more like a military scout or something, in which case you'd be better off creating another specialization for the rogue class.

[UPDATED!] D&D Beyond: An Official D&D Digital Toolset & Character Builder

I want to be more excited about this, but I just know it's going to drown us in microtransactions or some kind of monthly subscription.

    D&D 5E (2014) The 'New' Ranger

My understanding is that it's because "multiattack" is just a mechanic meant for action-economy balance when going against player groups. As a permanent ally, that action economy boost would be too much against monsters.

    D&D 5E (2014) Retireing characters

You're probably always better off letting a player reroll a character they don't enjoy than forcing them to play something they are tired of. Retirement is good because it keeps something on the backburner in case they want to bring him back. Not letting people reroll is the whole reason...

    D&D 5E (2014) Boots of Striding and Springing.......kinda lame

It's not just the boots. A whole lot of magic items in 5e are just crappy, and the disappointment of rolling something like an Amulet of Proof Against Detection is obvious around the table.

D&D 5E (2014) How do you handle Random Encounters?

I don't, after about level 5 or 6. That's when magic abuse tends to remove any sort of danger to the really fun creative ones.

    D&D 5E (2014) Interrupting a Long Rest

I think 1 hour of walking is it's own thing, so just reorder the list to clear it up... "If the rest is interrupted by a period of strenuous activity -- fighting, casting spells, at least 1 hour of walking, or similar adventuring activity -- the characters must begin the rest again to gain any...

D&D 5E (2014) Concurrent initiative variant; Everybody declares/Everybody resolves [WAS Simultaneous Initiative]

I don't really get the problem this is trying to solve. Are you playing with people who have zero attention spans or something? Just take 20 seconds to sort out initiative at the beginning of combat. Surprised characters don't act on the first round. Everyone takes their turn and you just...

    D&D 5E (2014) Summons and Rolling Initiative

I've always ruled that initiative is only rolled at the start of a round (normally the first). If something gets summoned in or enters combat later, they don't get a chance to roll initiative until the start of the next round, based on the flow of combat chart in the PHB.

D&D 5E (2014) Ranger Stealth - If you are traveling alone, you can move stealthily at a normal pace.???

So basically the last 4 pages kind of boil down to highlighting the fact that there are two general DM preferences: 1. DM's that want a roll for every possible action, even if it's just a "meta-roll" meant to someone prevent the player from "reading between the lines." I think this style is a...

    D&D 5E (2014) Bury corpses

Where did you get this idea? Anyway, there are two possibilities here. The first is that villages *do* have graveyards, but they aren't specifically stated unless it's important to the adventure. Sort of like how outhouses, cobblers, or thatchers are rarely mentioned, yet essentially every...

    D&D 5E (2014) Push enemy questions

I would impose a disadvantage to the shove attempt, or an advantage to the thunderwave save. Seems a bit more streamlined than asking for yet another round of checks.

D&D 5E (2014) How powerfull is a permanent blur item?

Of course. I'd just add to the top of that list "avoid the guy you have no hope of hitting until after the other threats are down." Yes, there will be the occasional stupid guy who just can't stop attacking him. Special individual motivations like hatred of X or Y can certainly change things...
