D&D 4E [Thread from 2005] Ridiculing People Who Want to Talk About 4E - Okay on ENWorld?

I was searching for something else but found this thread. Funny. Two years later, and 4E is still talked about, but still has not been so much as hinted at by WotC. I would do a search for 4E to see how far back the rumor/worry started, but 4E isn't long enough as a search term. Quasqueton

    Old Times hardships and obstacles

This was more a function of stingy DMs than the AD&D1 rules. http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?t=167628&page=1&pp=40 Quasqueton

Computers beat up my role player

Damn! First response got it. Kudos. "As a typically ambitious player, I did what all others of that ilk do: Everything I could do to gain advantage for my PCs and rise in level as rapidly as possible." -- Gary Gygax, Dragon #318 Quasqueton

Computers beat up my role player

Can you identify the D&D player who said this? I'll give a hint: He is a regular poster to ENWorld. (Technically, that's two hints.) Quasqueton

    World of Greyhawk shield devices

I hadn't considered it, but that makes sense. Thanks. I had noticed the symbol years ago, but never noticed it was on several devices, until yesterday. And the relationship between the nations with that symbol never dawned on me. Quasqueton

    Complicated maps

Rob Kuntz drew those maps in the other thread. They are neither. Not even close, to my eye. For my own answer to the OP question: I would have no problem with the using the first map. The layout is fine with me, but I really hate the 3D art for dungeon maps. Simple flat, black and white, or...

    World of Greyhawk shield devices

There is a strange symbol/rune on some shield devices of the WoG nations. You can see the symbol on at least five shields in the 1983 books. The symbol isn't as easy to see (or is not present) in the 2001 LGG. The symbol is a diamond (square standing on its corner) with an X through it. The...

    Sailing into boiling water

What would happen to a ship and crew that sailed into a sea heated to boiling? Can a crew protected itself from the rising steam? What happens to wood (ship) in boiling water? (I don't necessarily need scientific precision, here.) Quasqueton

    Old Times hardships and obstacles

There's currently a lot of claims that old time D&D was harder and more deadly. Recovering from death was unlikely, and everyone started over at 1st level. If games were so hard, raising the dead so unlikely, and everyone started back at 1st level, how did anyone reach name level in such games...

    Experimental societies

A new continent is discovered. People start moving there in large numbers. Some leader-types want to start new societies. What kinds of societies, cities, nations, civilizations would be started, and by whom? I'm thinking something along the lines of a bunch of paladins starting a city of Law...

Should D&D Have an Alternate Death Mechanic?

Even before there were video games. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, video games are too D&Dey. Quasqueton
