Pathfinder 2E I played my first PF2e game this week. Here's why I'm less inclined to play again.

While this might have been a big miss for Pathfinder it was a big win for you. Finding out you don't like something is very valuable information.

Why Should You Follow Morrus' TTRPG News Podcast?

Because you told me so is a good enough reason. I walk about 2.6 miles each day, and your podcast is on my regular rotation.

To play, or not to play.....that is the question.

Never trust a Bard. Never work for a dragon. Your DM is always right. "It's what my character would do" is no reason to be a jerk. ABL - Always be leveling.

D&D General Why do people like Alignment?

I think it's interesting having a game where concepts like law, chaos, good, and evil are palpable forces that shape the universe. Is alignment realistic? No. Does it have a lot of nuance? Not really. But when approached with the proper attitude it can be a lot of fun. That's why I like...

Tariffs: 'De Minimis' Exemption Ended, Affects Individual Game Orders Entering US

My purchase of modeling supplies has been affected. A lot of the products I like to use when painting miniatures are made overseas in places like Spain or Japan. Most of the time I can get them through a supplier here in the U.S., but sometimes I order directly from a company in Spain or...

    D&D General Self-Defeating Rules in D&D

DM: Conan, what is best in life? Conan: To crush your player characters, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of the players.

One of the things I like most about King is his characters seem like real people. In The Shining, after just a few days at the Overlook Hotel, Jack considers resigning his position. There was the incident with Danny and the wasp's nest and both Jack and Wendy have a bad feeling about the...

What videogames are you playing in 2025?

I just finished playing Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order again. I managed to beat it at the highest difficulty rating with very little difficulty save for the final boss encounter which took me four attempts. Great game.

D&D General D&D weapons vs reality

I once had a player explain to me that a human being couldn't run a certain distance under a certain amount of time. We exited the house, and I demonstrated he was wrong by running that distance under the allotted time. And even back when I was in great physical shape I was a slooow runner. I...

No doubt you watched too many episodes of Miami Vice with Don Johnson.

    Violence and (Geek) Entertainment

I think there might be a happy medium between Kill Bill levels of violence and something more appropriate for children. Like I said in my first post, I'm a reasonable person, so I don't think it'd be appropriate for a program aimed at young children to feature graphic violence. But the GI Joe...

Wizards of the Coast Head Explains Benefits to D&D Franchise Model

Brother, I might be there soon. Every time I go to the optometrist I think it's finally time for the bifocals. I have to use reading glasses when painting my miniatures. :geek:

    How Special Are The PCs?

The PCs are the stars of the game. They're the most special characters in the whole wide world. The whole campaign literally revolves around them. Like @DrunkonDuty, I'm going to have to answer that it really depends on the game. Though I personally prefer games that are a bit more grounded...

Wizards of the Coast Head Explains Benefits to D&D Franchise Model

Despite playing face-to-face, out of the six participants in my current Greyhawk campaign, only two of us are rocking it old school with pen & paper. Four of the players are using D&D Beyond for everything including rolling dice. I do think WotC will continue to encourage players and DMs to...

Given that his books don't shy away from horrible things being done to people, I'm guessing he does.

    Violence and (Geek) Entertainment

Descriptions of violence for me varies on what I'm running. For D&D, which I don't take at all seriously, I go for over-the-top descriptions of violence and gore that nobody could possibly take seriously. During my last session, a creature was killed by a Cloud of Daggers spell. I described...

    Violence and (Geek) Entertainment

It's like watching a car commercial showing the vehicle driving on an empty road in a city and the disclaimer at the bottom reads, "professional driver on a closed course." I'm not talking about a commercial showing a vehicle doing outlandish stunts or anything, it's just being driven down a...

    Violence and (Geek) Entertainment

This thread is inspired by Stephen King's recent comment regarding the violence of Marvel movies being almost "pornographic." In a nutshell, King's criticism is the movies show all sorts of destruction to a city but very little on how that impacts the people there. i.e. No blood. It's a...
