    D&D 5E (2014) Fun With Darkness!

Devil's sight also works nicely with the way of shadow monk who can cast darkness and teleport within darkness at-will.

    D&D 5E (2014) DMG Spoiler: Death Domain

Yeah...plenty of settings have non-evil death gods. A cleric of the Raven Queen or Wee-Jas or Kelemvor or whatever is a pretty common character in games I've played in/DMed over the years.

D&D 5E (2014) Would you buy an updated PHB every year?

Yes, this. I already bought a hard copy but would also buy a digital copy if it would be updated with errata regularly.

    D&D 5E (2014) A static feat progression

I was thinking about this too: http://www.enworld.org/forum/showthread.php?358117-Thought-experiment-feats-AND-ability-boosts "Out of curiosity how do you think this would work: At 4th, 8th, 12th, 16th and 19th level, all classes get an ability score boost as normal (+1/+1 or +2 up to maximum...

    D&D 5E (2014) MM Preview: Cambion

I thought that was the male version. The, uh, lumps on the chest look lke part of the armor.

    D&D 5E (2014) Any interest in the not-quite-so-wild mage?

When I made this post I was operating under a misconception about Tides of Chaos. I thought you still had to roll a d20 and get a 1 before going to the wild surge table and you didn't get advantage back unless you got a wild surge. Now I see that you get a wild surge roll after every spell as...

D&D 5E (2014) Good art and Really bad art in the 5e PHB

Huh...I can see the issue with the halflings and their tiny feet but I didn't have any problem with the half-orc paladin. I can certainly imagine a half-orc trying to escape the taint of his orcish heritage by becoming a paladin. I even think it is interesting since you see this fierce, almost...

    D&D 5E (2014) Beastmaster's animal companion: can it survive for 2 rounds?

This is what made summoners and necromancers so darn annoying in 3.5e.....their turns ended up taking 10 minutes as they decided on what each of their 10 minions did. I am sorry to see that coming back even if "minion master" and "army of the dead" are iconic fantasy tropes.

D&D 5E (2014) What do you think a psychic class should look like in 5e?

Yeah I was thinking that the sorcerer already tells you how much each spell slot is worth in the 5e system calculus. So you could give a psionic class a number of points equal the value of all the sorcerer's spell slots + the "bonus" points that the sorcerer gets to augment spells with...

    D&D 5E (2014) Neuroglyph's "30 Minutes with Mike Mearls" Interview

When I started playing WoW I remember saying, "Hey they took a lot of stuff from D&D," too. :)

New Cleric Domain: Strategy (Former Planning)

OK, just keep in mind that in 5e the domains give 2 1st level spells, 2 second level spells, 2 third level spells, 4th levels spells and two 5th level spells. Some of those are generally already on the cleric spell list. About 1/3 to 1/2 are from other spell lists. You probably want to balance...

New Cleric Domain: Strategy (Former Planning)

Time stop is a level 9 spell that wizards gain access to at level 17. It is extremely powerful. You are giving it to the cleric at level 9. Also, no other domain gives clerics spells above 5th level. So I suggest you replace it with a 5th level spell.

Classic PC Races for 5e - Warforged, Shifter, and more

Oops...you are correct; I was looking at the subraces. Anyway....good luck!

Classic PC Races for 5e - Warforged, Shifter, and more

Some of the races have "resistance to charm and domination effects," but: 1. I think you mean "you have advantage on charm saving throws" since resistance applies to damage only in 5e. 2. There is no domination category of spells anymore. Even the spells "dominate person" and "dominate...

    D&D 5E (2014) Neuroglyph's "30 Minutes with Mike Mearls" Interview

I am sure some folks fit Mearls description....had never really explored the splat books at all and were surprised by 4e. I also agree with the above poster who said that some people had read and liked later 3.5e books (e.g. Bo9S) and didn't like 4e. And you are saying that some people read and...

    D&D 5E (2014) The Bard: A missed opportunity.

The new bard is a lot like the 3.5e beguiler. And I like that!

D&D 5E (2014) Character Concepts you cannot make in 5E

Is the unarmored part the key to Avenger flavor? Because the Oath of Vengeance Paladin is pretty much the 4e avenger in plate armor and fills the "holy assassin" and "violent zealot" roles quite nicely.

House Rule for Healing in 5th Edition D&D

Yes, they are offering a wound system and "grittier" healing systems. If you can track down the playtest documents for 5e they included a gritty healing option to get feedback. That would give you some idea of what they are thinking and are likely to offer in the DMG.

    D&D 5E (2014) Help with Warlock concept

Blade pact should work with the fey. You can do plenty of damage with first level spells like hex or arms of hadar. But armor of agathys is also great for melee warlock as it scales in damage and temporary HP (and it does cold damage so there is nothing particularly fiendish about it). And...

    Aasimar for D&D 5th

Pretty nice. I agree with others that resistance to radiant damage is fairly weak. If you switch it to resistance to necrotic or resistance to lightning (like the celestials in 3e) that would be better. I was also thinking that aasimar would be the +2 wisdom race, so +2 wisdom +1 charisma might...
