Thought experiment: feats AND ability boosts

Out of curiosity how do you think this would work: At 4th, 8th, 12th, 16th and 19th level, all classes get an ability score boost as normal (+1/+1 or +2 up to maximum of 20) AND they also get a feat. At 6th and 14th levels fighters get a bonus feat but no ability score boost at 10th rogues get...

    D&D 5E (2014) I have something... THE TARRASQUE!

Excluse me, this is just the sort of exclusive exclusivity that makes enworld (i.e. exclusive news world) my destination for d&d-related exclusives.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e Eldritch Knight vs PF Magus

I think a lot of the Magus's features are just patches for the way 3.0 handled spellcasting in melee and in armor. And even still you feel like you are juggling between charging up spells for a melee touch attack, casting defensively, etc. Feels a bit clunky. But the magus has an extensive...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5th Edition -- Help Me Break the Game!

These threads are generally quite helpful. I certainly relied on them to discover horribly broken things when DMing 3.5e. Saved me a lot of headache. But then some groups like to push the rules to the breaking point...it is fun to see what you can get away with. And I've played in such...

    D&D 5E (2014) Blade Pact Question

I think you are right. But then...why not got fighter 1/valor bard 19? You get 2 attacks at the same level (6) and a lot more spell slots and spells known. The only thing the warlock gets over the bard, I think, is fly at level 5 (or 6 if you go fighter first level), the bard has to wait until...

    Cleric spell question.

Those spells are automatically prepared and they are in addition to the 4 that you decide to prepare. Also clerics (unlike wizards) don't have to learn spells....they just choose the ones they want from the list each day. So you can choose other spells on other days to prepare if you'd like...

D&D 5E (2014) Your First 5e Character (now with PHB content!)

How about a fighter multiclassed with the Tempest domain cleric. They have all the wind and storm and pushing stuff you mentoned.

    D&D 5E (2014) Ranger

Same. They seem fine but neither really excited me or filled my head with possibilities the way the other classes did.

D&D 5E (2014) It is hard to wait! (for my pre-ordered PHB)

I gave in and bought it. The 20 extra dollars is a fair price for all the amusement I've alread gotten out of it.

A gift for you all: The 5e Spell Sorter!

This is awesome....thanks! Only thing I could see adding would be whether the spell has somatic components since that is an issue for some clerics/paladins/EK, etc.

    D&D 5E (2014) Finally

Strength, huh? That is rather weird. Ah well.

    D&D 5E (2014) Finally

What saving throws is the monk proficient in? Is it still dex/wisdom like in the playtest? That would make sense but seems like some of them (e.g. the paladin) were changed since then.

    D&D 5E (2014) Sundering - So what happened?

That is odd. If you decide that "murder" is a fundamental pillar of the universe such that there is a god in charge of it and a system set up to make sure that some mortals worship that god in order to give it the faith fuel necessary to keep on promoting/pursuing murder, how do you get pissed...

D&D 5E (2014) Your First 5e Character (now with PHB content!)

I want to play some sort of gish but not sure which yet (so many options). I was thinking maybe a fighter (eldritch knight) 5/wizard (abjuration or transmutation) 15 but a valor bard or a pact blade warlock (possibly with a dip into fighter for armor proficiencies) might also work. And then...

D&D 5E (2014) Is it just me or does it look like we are getting the "must have feats" once again?

The only one that worries me so far is warcaster. A lot of spells have somatic components so you'd think that clerics, paladins, valor bards, eldritch knight fighters, etc. would have built in ability to handle this despite the fact that a chunk of them are expected to carry shields and weapons...

    D&D 5E (2014) Why play a pact blade warlock?

The worry I have there is that warlocks have light amor proficiency only. So if you pump up your strength and charisma like that, you'll have no dexterity and will be very easy to hit in melee. You can hellp this slightly with the mage armor invocation but even there you'll want to have a...

    D&D 5E (2014) Finally

Hmm...gonna have to think hard about casting concentration spells with the paladin then. Thanks!

    D&D 5E (2014) Finally

What saving throws is the paladin proficient in? We couldn't see in the preview page and I think they changed since the playtest.

    D&D 5E (2014) Warlock build help

YOu are free to house-rule whatever you'd like but using the 5e rules, you cannot start with an 18 in any score: pg. 7 of the free basic rules states: "Variant: Customizing Ability Scores You have 27 points to spend on your ability scores...using this method, 15 is the highest you can end up...

    D&D 5E (2014) Atheism/Agnosticism in 5e?

Well faith isn't exactly a rational choice (try to decide to believe in unicorns and see what happens) but yeah. :]
