I need a new desktop computer - recommendations?

Ha! Not perfect, but much better. I don't know about baking, but a lot of the time one *is* better off with home cooking than restaurant cooking. Of course, one gets tired of doing that *every day*. I don't know anyone who buys a computer every day!

I need a new desktop computer - recommendations?

Very bad analogy. It does not take anywhere near the time or skill to put a computer together versus a house or car.

I need a new desktop computer - recommendations?

-shrug- Whether it's D&D rules or computers, I'm such an inveterate tinkerer that by the time I got an out-of-the-box Dell or HP machine set up the way I wanted it - if that turned out to be possible in the first place - I wouldn't have saved any time. Probably not money either - at this point...

I need a new desktop computer - recommendations?

I don't understand why anyone would buy a big-name computer when it's cheaper and almost as easy to buy the parts and build it yourself, or if you're too scared to do that, let someone like Newegg do it for you. You get exactly the components you want and you aren't paying a premium for a name.

WotBS Your WotBS: How Did YOur Group Surprise You?

Vortberd was a brain fart on my part. Laurabec and Tiljan I recognized the names of (as I've said, Tiljan was actually a PC in my group for a while). However, there's no Lyre of Building that I recall in the 3E version, much less an entire subplot around it, and I have no idea what the Aquilla...

WotBS Your WotBS: How Did YOur Group Surprise You?

... I hardly recognize any of the events or NPC names you just mentioned, and my group has since finished the third adventure. Is that all stuff from the 4E version?

Issue wtih text colour on front page

On the Legacy view, some of the stories on the front page are showing up dark-grey-on-black instead of white-on-black, and are therefore all but unreadable without highlighting them. The affected stories are those from today under the headings Roleplaying Games News, Community News and Other...

    So someone remembers her...

Umbran and Bill D, let it be known that manly tears are being shed on your behalf here. Umbran especially, I lost a kitten under somewhat similar circumstances a few years back. It's never easy even knowing you did probably the best it was possible to do.

The Great Breach Has Been Repelled!

Uggh is right... didn't realize it was so laborious. I'd have hoped there'd be a way to automate the process, but if there was you'd surely be using it.

The Great Breach Has Been Repelled!

Okay, I FINALLY found it. If I may make a suggestion, perhaps the whacking great heading at the top that says Subscribers Content should lead to all, not just 10% or so, of the subscribers content. The only way to find the majority of that content is currently in the forums, and I don't know how...

Appendix N: Inspirational and Educational Reading

Conspicuous by his absence - Clark Ashton Smith. There's only a whole adventure based around his work, published not so very long after Gygax wrote that (though EGG didn't write it).

The Great Breach Has Been Repelled!

At the time, first of all the subscriber's content was under "Reviews", which it wasn't, so I couldn't even find the section. Even when I eventually did, I could only see the most recent Zeitgeist adventure, Admiral o' the High Seas, and the portrait package. That seems to be partially fixed in...

The Great Breach Has Been Repelled!

One thing I haven't found a way to do that I don't see mentioned above is download the subscriber content (e.g. the Zeitgeist adventures).

    600+ page Softcover B&W + PDF down from $129.98 to $26.99 - that's a pretty good deal

Of course not. Half of it hasn't even been written yet. But the 4E version of WotBS hasn't been compiled into a single book either, so I'm not sure I see your point.

Where are you? The hotbeds of tabletop gaming! [Top 500 cities in post #32]

Short version of this post: Lanefan had everything right. BC = British Columbia, the Canadian province of which Victoria is the capital and everyone thinks Vancouver is the capital. Victoria is on Vancouver Island (which Vancouver isn't - don't worry, it's confusing even to Canadians) which is...

Where are you? The hotbeds of tabletop gaming! [Top 500 cities in post #32]

And they seem to be proportionately the most popular in Canada (the US has about 7.2 times as many hits as Canada - based on population, you'd expect them to have 9 times as many instead). However, that doesn't account for Winnipeg coming ahead of Calgary (also Canadian and with about one and a...

Where are you? The hotbeds of tabletop gaming! [Top 500 cities in post #32]

I'm surprised (pleasantly) that Winnipeg rates so highly. There's maybe three quarters of a million people in the greater Winnipeg area, peanuts compared to most of the other places on this list (we're flanked on this list by Paris with its 2.2 million, albeit many of them non-English-speaking...
