WotC to Revise D&D 4th Edition GSL and SRD

doubtful I am highly doubting that 4th ed is in any type of trouble, and if it was, this would not be the remeady. But this is really good news. RK

We need a unified optional game system or this hobby's gonna die

I have thought the same When I play the When I Win the Lottery Game. I don't envision buying D&D, I envision buying Paizo, Goodman, and Necro and forging one company, and creating one game that would blow the socks off everything else. And then the dream spirals out of control with Movie...

We need a unified optional game system or this hobby's gonna die

not at all Not at all, not anymore than Heroscape vs. DDM (which are both under the WOTC Flagship now). And 4ed is not an entry-level game, nor will it ever be on the ToysRUS store shelves (the beginners game coming out might, but I doubt it). RK

We need a unified optional game system or this hobby's gonna die

so we agree? So we agree or partially agree that it is a marketing issue? I agree that the hobby (or industry) could really use a Hit game. I would love to see a new entry level rpg released by someone with deep enough pockets to advertise it, and get it on the shelves of toy stores...

We need a unified optional game system or this hobby's gonna die

Marketing $$$ There are tons of systems out there. Some are great. But the problem is that they don't have the $$$ to market the game. That would take some serious $$. I think one of R. Dancy's predictions that falls under the Not Yet catagory is that a major toy competitor to Hasbro will...

    Forked Thread: Taking a Break

yes but Yes, that is true. However, their are words that have such an accepted definition that the meaning is considered objective. If I use the word hair, people are going to know what I mean. There is no reason to get a consensus on the meaning. If I use the word Intelligence you have to...

    Forked Thread: Taking a Break

This As a resident of the South (nashville Tn), but with relatives in the mid-west, I can back this up. Down here the vast vast majority call all soda's Cokes. It is obviously big enough that for a while Pepsi had Steve Harvey (I belive) doing "If you want a Pepsi, ask for a Pepsi" Ad...

Goodman NOT going GSL it looks like

I don't think OSRIC comparisons can be used Hi, I don't think we can use OSRIC for comparison anymore (ok, that is my dream anyway). 1) Stuart has stated he has had communication with WOTC, and he is not sharing it (good for him) but there is no danger. So, the legal speculation seems...

Let me help you find the right board game

an hourish Hi, Thank you for the Lost Cities suggestion. I would love a game that could be set-up and and played in an hour. We are not big on resourse allocation games. Something pretty mindless but fun. If there is a lot of luck involved, we are ok with that. RK

Let me help you find the right board game

My wife... Hi, I am married with a toddler. My wife and I need a quick(ish) game (including set-up). I would prefer a fantasy (or mythology) based game. It needs to be simple and quick (we can only really play after the boy goes down). Thanks, RK

Errata: What you don't know, won't hurt you?

I ignore it Hi, I ignore it, because I can't stand to read it. If it were The Spell is now... that would be fine. However, in most cases it is On page 34 third paragraph replace word X, with word J On page 35 ..... and that drives me nuts trying read the errata and flip to the book, find...

Return to White Plume Mountain - your experiences?

funny I am re-reading it now. Hi, I bought it, but could not bring myself to run it. The concept of the False-Keraptis and the K-implants just didn't sit right with me. I loved the surrounding info though. In fact, My 4e campaign is starting in the nearby town (I have re-named...

    Making trouble for a womaniser

this idea? Hi, I did this to a player who was a bit to much of a player. The group was in a very byzantine elven city. The player was seduced by a serving wench(elven), it was really the wife of a mid-level noble. She and her man on the side, set this up so that the husband would...

    Dungeon and Dragon Magazine Rocks!

I like them too I plan on going the year route, so if they keep up the quality it will be worth 10/month for the mags. Then if any of the rest of DDI is good to great, I will consider it a Great Value. I have really liked what I read, and I haven't even really dug deep yet. RK
