What's your favorite edition of D&D (so far)?

The 3.0 core really appealed to me. The game mechanics were streamlined. The skills were integrated into the system. The feats added a lot of customization options. The classes all had cool options added from prior editions but retained that classic feeling. I ran core 3.0 without any...

Pathfinder 1E Do Pathfinder minis come with stat cards?

No, I'm wondering if they come with stat cards for Pathfinder.

Pathfinder 1E Do Pathfinder minis come with stat cards?

I really liked the d20 era D&D minis. One of the things I liked best was the stat cards. I wish I had bought more of them. Some of the new Pathfinder minis look cool, but do they come with stat cards?

    3.0 Era Polyhedron

Omega World d20 remains one of my favorite games ever. It was brilliant in its simplicity. I would love to see it reprinted standalone or compiled into an OGL release.

What are you working on? (Playing, GMing, desigining, etc)

I am running my Savage Worlds Weird War Rome game. So, I spend a little time each week getting the next episode ready. I am also reading some new Rifts books. Mostly fluff, but I have this idea that I will run it again some day.

What's your favorite edition of D&D (so far)?

My vote is for 3.x, but I am even more specific to 3.0. With it I can crush my enemies, see them driven before me and hear the lamentations of their women. I also see my castaway self playing it with Ginger and Mary Ann.

4E Burnout - What to do next?

It's like you 2 are reading my mind. For the OP, try Savage Worlds for free: http://www.peginc.com/Downloads/SWEX/TD06.pdf Savage Worlds would be my first recommendation to you for a change of pace that is easy to run but robust enough to engage the players. But, it is a different system...

Remember when Dungeon Magazine was all about adventures?

Yes, indeed. My favorite Dungeon Adventures were the short ones--like Side Treks--that I could easily drop into my campaign. I also liked the card stock sheets of counters, and I loved the d20 mini-games such as Omega World. It really would be great if Dungeon came back in print with those...

Possibly trying Savage Worlds: Deadlands or other Settings

I have no experience with playing Deadlands Reloaded (DLR), but I read it and The Flood. We played the original game and had fun with it. The new version is good, but the setting and adventure are not really to my taste. A little weird goes a long way for me in a Western game, and DLR is way...

What Games are Best for Campaigning? Which are Not?

The best answer I can give is based on my GMing. The most successful campaign I've run is for Savage Worlds. It started as a Tour of Darkness game, and the players really invested in the setting of the Viet Nam War. Plus, it was about 90% less preparation work than d20, so I was able to...

    Full-time DM, Part-time Prep

Good advice. I had to DM Omega World d20 and Savage Worlds to really get some of these ideas, but now I spend much more time thinking about the cool story of the game than mechanically preparing the next inevitable combat encounter.

What is the longest you've gamed with a group?

There are 3 of us left in our core group. I've been gaming with 1 since 1991 and the other since 2001. Since that is both happy and sad, I'm focusing on the happy aspects of it.

    Dear Mike & Monte

In the aforementioned spirit, have a look at the new Gamma World. A game with about that level of complexity for the GM is what I want. But it needs more character building for the players--perhaps choices of archetypes, powers and skills. It also rocks to have all the maps & counters in the...

    Dear Mike & Monte

    1) Please read Jonathon Tweet's Omega World d20. That game was brilliant in its simple complexity. It was a great adaptation of d20 to Gamma World and showed how the game was portable to other genres. 2) Look at Savage Worlds. Simple for the GM but complex for the players. That is good...
