[poll] CS1 Gamma World or Omega World?

So, after the free YouTube preview of CS1 last week derailed my Gamma World (GW) game, I prepared a game of it uning those rules. I originally wanted to do it for Savage Worlds (SW), but we're already playing GW so that was prepped first. Then, I converted it to Omega World d20 (OW) because we...

Best Way to Sell Used RPG Material?

eBay is alot of work, and overall your returns will not be that great. In my experience, you might make out OK on things that are truly collectible or sought after; but you will work pretty hard to list, sell & ship all that stuff. Noble Knight games is a great place to sell or trade stuff...

    Non-D&D 4Ed

OK, why would someone want to do that? I went back & re-read the original post. I don't think a generic 4e would be more successful (or bigger) without the D&D brand. In fact, I think it would be much smaller if it existed at all. So, why would someone (anyone) want to do that? Other games...

    Non-D&D 4Ed

I, too, think the D&D brand has too much value for 4e not to have been marketed as the new version of the game. As a personal example, we tried 4e when it was new. Most of us have been playing since Basic or at least 1e. 4e wasn't to our taste, but we wouldn't have even tried it if it hadn't...

    Which system?

Go with what you know. Stick to d20. 4e would be great if they would make a more streamlined version like Gamma World. But if you know d20 then stick with it. In fact, if Pathfinder is new for you, then just go back to your favorite d20 iteration. Make it easy on yourself. Have fun.

    For the Love of Minis

I love miniatures. I didn't use them for my games in the 80s or 90s, although I had a few at various times. I really started using them after 2000 with 3e and other games. I've custom painted my own, used pre-printed counters, made little paper stand-up models, bought pre-painted minis and...

About to play 4e Gamma World, but a couple questions first...

We had little trouble with Gamma World, although we had only played a little 4e. We have played a lot of d20 & prior editions, though. The best thing I did was copy the character sheets from the boxed set. Those have all the information that a player needs, especially an experienced player...

If you could play in a campaign of your choice, what would it be?

We had a few sessions of a Star Wars Revised (d20) all-jedi campaign that was very fun. Each of us played 2 characters, and the other player munchkined up his jedi; but it was great fun none the less. We started at 7th or 9th level, which was cool as we had plenty of Force to use for good. We...

The Campaign Journal Conundrum: I Hate Doing Them As A GM

I did a similar thing in a game once, and it worked very well. I even collected all the emails in a big word document and had them printed & spiral bound for all the players as gifts. Very fun.

Which edition change changed the game the most?

That may be. My 4e play is limited and low level, plus running Gamma World now. But the little 4e we played at low levels sure felt like the numbers were increased a lot. 3e got unmanageable at higher levels, so if 4e flattens out as I've heard from your post and others, then that is a good...

    Different Rulesets, Same Campaign

Conversions like these have usually not worked for me. I think the players felt their min-maxing was frustrated by the conversions. So, if I ever run my old 3e game again, I will maintain that it will not be converted to any other edition; not 3.5 and certainly not 4e.

Which edition change changed the game the most?

3e for many of the reasons mentioned but also for the huge leap in development that was the d20 system with its license and OGL. The portability of the game to other genres was a vast difference over prior editions where there were some conversions and cross-overs but no ability to transfer the...

Looking for inspirational material for a viking campaing

I love the movie, The 13th Warrior, and the Michael Crichton book on which it is based, Eaters of the Dead (also republished under the movie title). It has a great viking flavor. I suggest seeign the movie first and then reading the book. Once you read it, you'll see its basis in Norse mythology.

D&D 5E (2014) If WotC asked us which setting we wanted next what would you choose?

Ravenloft, specifically the Ravenloft announced at GenCon 2010 :D and cancelled at DDXP 2011. :( I really like the new Gamma World and want to see a simplified D&D 4e game designed the same way. It wouldn't have to be the Ravenloft setting for me, but who wouldn't want to play that.

    Boxed Campaign Settings

It's the only thing I'm interested, especially since the Ravenloft RPG got the axe (stake?). Heck, it might even get me to get into 4e.

    Greatest or best ever?

That is very hard to narrow down. I've had a lot of fun gaming, both as a DM and as a player; but it easier for me to recall my best DMing successes. So, here is my best long-term answer. The best game I ran as DM was Tour of Darkness for Savage Worlds. The players really got into the...

    Gamma World Dark Sun hybrid

Yeah, a simpler version of 4e would be great. I hate that the Ravenloft RPG version has been cancelled. But, perhaps it is worth picking up the Essentials line for the simpler kind of game you suggest.

    WotC 2011 Fall Catalog

Maybe and maybe not, respectively. I'm intrigued by the idea of a super adventure with counters and maps, but I would have to run it with Gamma World rules since I don't have any other 4e-ish version. A board game just has less appeal to me. What I really lament is that the Ravenloft RPG got...

I Am Running My 1st GW Session

Yep, we didn't really like 4e but we're enjoying Gamma World. I've run my group through Trouble in Freesboro, and we're slogging through Steading of the Iron King on their way to Famine in Far-Go. I'm hoping we run it all the way through Legion of Gold. I'd love to see WotC develop more...

    Ravenloft/4e

I'm in the "disappointed that Ravenloft is cancelled" camp. In 1 night I learned that it was coming and has been cancelled. I really like the way the new Gamma World is designed, and I was (briefly) looking forward to seeing Ravenloft get the same treatment. It could have been any D&D setting...
