    Apocalypic Questions

Knowldege is virtually worthless when it isn't coupled with resources of materials and time. Folks growing sugar beets, cotton or tobbacco don't have a stockpile of wheat or soybeans on hand. Certainly one can have a nice rose-colored sunglasses view of the post apocalyptic civilization but...

    Apocalypic Questions

Gasoline engines are meaningless without gasoline. An entire global industry makes gasoline. A lot of what we think is easy or simple is only possible because there is a global civilization gathering raw materials, producing refined materials, growing food, producing energy, educating folks...

    D&D and violence

Not everyone in prison is a monster (or even guilty). I myself would rather they read and went to shool in prison so there is an outside chance they'd catch on that crime doesn't pay all that well after all. Dice and pencils in a violent population = bad idea. But not every prison popualtion...

    Apocalypic Questions

19th century civiliztion had international trade and large functioning nation states. I don't think that level of technology/civilization would be maintainable following a civilization devastating event. It's tricky to make a light bulb when you are busy trying to dodge the mutant cannibals...

    D20 Apocalypse poll

A retro-virus infects higher animals (including people) and during the reproduction process of the virus it rewrites DNA of the host creature it (the virus) is reproducing within. If such a thing were possible in real life it'd likely just kill you when enough cells became meaningless to your...

    Turn Undead should be removed!

I assumed 3.x was designed about a party of 4 characters of roughly equal level that would most likely contain a cleric, a fighter, a rogue and an arcane caster.

    Turn Undead should be removed!

REALLY? Then why were the HD of undead ramped up to d12? They have a raft of immunities, can't be crited or whacked by a sneak attack unless one had feats that changed that. Some are tougher to turn (turn resistance). Seems to me the fact they could be turned was part of the design...

How Long Can You DM ?

It really depends on starting time and what i did before the game. Regular weekly game i start gettign cranky after 4 hours. Sunday game with a calm saturday before that and i can manage 12 hours.

What do they do with the copper and silver?

The group I DM for currently generally takes copper as long as it is under 200 coins. I once DM'd for a group that stole every possible thing they could haul off. At one point they were hauling off tiles from the floor of one chamber and ripping apart other fittings for sale. They even dug...

How often does Grappling happen in your game?

We had an epic battle involving a monk and a psychic warrior in a tug of war match with a dinosaur over a hapless enemy wizard. It would have been a little complicated if the DM was a hardcore rules freak.

    What's so Hard About Grappling?

Do an accurate flowchart of D&D combat, it will be longer and more complicated then you may intially imagine. I wager it will rival the Aftermath flowchart in complexity if not surpass it.

    Castles and crusades Questions:

Item dependecny is lower then in 3.x, the whoel partty doesn't have to be buffed to survive an encounter. Multiclassing is certainly possible, it just isnt in the rulebook. One could tack on whatever feats one wanted to as it would be a new subsytem in yuor houerules.

    The Reduction of Uncertainty

Absolutely, confining "play" to what should happen in the story is stifling, railroading and boring unless one has an amazing storytelling DM. It's a game first and good sessions and campaigns make good stories a good story does not mean one will have a fun and enjoyable game.

    D20 Apocalypse poll

Medical Nanobots go crazy and start rebuilding life. A retrovirus starts rewriting all higher animals DNA. A supercollider experiment smashes the bounds of reality. The suns shuts off, no one saw that coming, its it cold in here or is it just me? Super sunflares, wipe out all satellites and...

    Nonhuman noncombatants?

AMEN. Why folks using nonhuman races when it is grey and nebulous and doesn't really matter that they are nonhuman baffles me. I recall the gasps from a group of players when my established rough, aggressive and violent character dispatched some orc infants. We ended up spending a good hour...
