    My group is TOO BIG

I wish I had 10 players. Only have 7 right now. I think campaigns shine the more players you have. I recall one session years ago where the players all ended up not needing me as DM for over 1/2 an hour as they talked and planned mostly in character, an left me alone...it was great. I was...

Help me out. PoL. Why don't small towns get overrun?

In real life villages had to have some means of defense or they didn't get to stay there. They had to be isolated or fortified or naturally fortified by terrain or have a nearby protector or be part of an organized larger state that could aid them. The Pol may not have the larger organized...

    can you sell pdfs?

PDF "ownership" is tricky when one buys a pdf that has free updates as errata is noted and other such issues (even edition conversion) they then aren't buying simply a product but are in fact buying a service.

Pathfinder OGL/3.5 RPG system from Paizo

Bold and interseting move. Just skimmed the alpha release 1 pdf, and got myself a paizo account for the first time to do so, and it looks good so far.

Meek to mighty... in a month

3 or 4 encounters per game day isn't all that many if folks are in a dungeon, it's a little on the low side really.

    Room Sizes...

5' squares are a bit too big if folks actually want to actually consider weapon lengths. With a sword i can lunge and stab something 7'-8' away without moving my feet. If i pivot my rear foot forward of my forward foot in a stance, I can stab someone 10-11' away. D&D is far and away...

    Room Sizes...

4 guys with greatswords in a 6'x6' or 10'x10' room would have issues indeed, that's a good thing. Some weapons are better for some conditions and places. Greatswords weren't designed for tight spaces they were designed for open fields.

Would you Swap 3.5e for Exalted?

ahhh...so exalted is "Metabarons : the age of woe."

Exalted vs D&D. The battlelines are drawn!

aww come one, games about teenagers are awfully cool, oh the angst the pathos, the suffering, it's so hard to be them. That's what those games are, all the "clans" are high school cliques and the real story is about growing up. Exalted...never even looked at it.

    Dungeoncraft - 4th edition style

The undead, being immune to disease, were orignally created to fight a horrible source of world threatening disease. Unfortunately things got out of hand. The plague spreader is soon to be loosed on the world (sometime in this generation) and will wrack havoc on the isolated pockets of...

Why do we have ability scores?

Because whole numbers sound like more then modifiers. 18 compared to 10 is much more impresive then +4 compared to 0.

    Pre-Alpha, really?

i'm voting- c. No one at WotC knows jack-all about software development, and we shouldn't expect any of the tools to be working until 2009 or 2010. of course there could be a few people that do know what they are doing but didn't like the budget so they are working things to be corrected by an...

When does D&D stop becoming D&D?

since we talkd so much about techaers and spellign errors...that's katanas or simply katana.

D&D 4E Where the break between pro and anti 4e is

Might actually be fun to work with the new version. This does train some campaign concepts but i also opens a whole bunch of new ones. true, but then there are 40 somethign core classes right now and many prestige classes, no way they were all gettign covered right of the bat. This is a...

Gary Gygax has passed. RIP beloved father of RPG's. (merged)

Goodbye Mr. Gygax. His work has impacted so many lives; he led me to meeting both my wives, has helped me keep in regular contact with friends for decades now and given my family a pastime we can all share together. My wife, father, son, daughter, old friends and I will all note his passing...

    Kobold Skirmisher

So Hit point bloat is certainly apparent. They could be "reworking" some monsters to surprise folks who got used the same-old same-old of earlier editions. +6 to attack? That's a lot. I guess we are getting numbers bloat across the board, but if everything is suppsoed to be more like mid...

Sooo, that's my players certain not to be subscribing to DDI...

The prices aren't new but seeing them more concrete makes things clearer. There is no way in heck the folks I play with are signing up for DDI. Most of hte folks I game with are in for the price of a PHB, a half dozen mags and 2 other books , a dozen figures. every 5 years or so. That's...

    Apocalypic Questions

I'd just say you have a more positive outlook on things then I do. Our communities and the people in them only exsist as they do now becasue there is a whole world out there, without all that there the abilitiy to apply knowldege and make use of resources is horribly altered. I'd warrant small...

    Apocalypic Questions

Wreck up enough stuff to kill 99% of the population and a lot of food is getting lost also. A super quick plague and the survivors would be in luck. Yes, watch out for well fed men inviting you to dinner.

    Apocalypic Questions

No insults meant at all. I just refered to a story/playstyle that wasn't grimly horribly realisitic as lokign at thigns thru rose colored galsses. If they don't have enough they eat all the crops and starve to death after that. Most of the formerly good farmland near me is covered in housing...
