The Advantage of MtG over D&D

To me comparing M:tG and D&D is like comparing Football and painting, both are things people do to have fun but both have a drasticly different approach to that fun. M:tG is for directly competing against a person (or several people in a multiplayer game) D&D is about gettting together and...

    How does Boromir keep fighting?

I think at this point we are talking about a True Resurection.... Thankfully I caught on when someone asked if Eowyn was going to be in the other movies... saved me having to read through a thread that I probably read 4 years ago.

How much do you game during a week?

Not counting prep time (which is hard to quantify) I'd say between 4-8 hrs each week (every saturday from around 3:30-10:00)

How common are your cursed items

Actual full fleged cursed items rarely turn up in my games, however any magical item of significant power always seems to have a drawback of some sort. Most often its that the item has a fate of its own (because no wizard would waste his time to greate a magic item just to create it), a fate...

    Gamer's Limited Knowledge?

As a DM I am very very careful about what products I allow into my game, and because I dont have unlimited time and money to fully research products I doubt that I would ever let a player bring something 3rd party into one of my games. There is a LOT of material out there, and at least 80% of...

    D&D World Demographics

I dont use the DMG guide to population, 99% of the time it doesnt even come up (who cares how many townspeople are commoners/experts/aristocrats). I just assume that any tradesman types encountered will be experts, any guards would be warriors or fighters, and any beurocrats or nobles would be...

What innate power would you choose?

Its hard to chose just one... but fly would definatly be at the top of my list, followed by polymorph self and invisability.

The 7 wonders of the (homebrew) world

Natural Wonders: Tor Ararat: the tallest mountian in the world, found deep within the Dragon's Teeth Mountains. Such is its height that stars can be seen from its peak even at noon. The mountain is a sacred place where it is said that gods still walk, and as such few ever visit its heights...

What does the future hold for your campaign?

The party must now go save five villiagers who were carried off durring the troll raid last time. what they dont know is that a troll shaman is going to contact them durring the next adventure, and will release the captives if the party kills a wizard. the wizard is a member of the Sing Wa...

Do you still buy metal minis?

my collection is probably 60 metal 40 plastic (and all of that plastic is in various Games Workshop minis for my various armies). over the past year or so I have been buying more and more reaper minis (i love their selection, and the detail is amazing). I bought one boster of WotC minis, but...

Name the most evil character you've ever read/watched! [possible spoilers]

Grand Senator Bronson from the Falkenberg Legion stories. He manipulated a collapsing intersteller empire to set himself up as the leader what was to come after, in the process he devistated numerous worlds and sponsered a brutal insurection on a peaceful democratic planet. The rogue...

As a player, what monster/opponent is the most frustrating to fight?

As a DM and a player i find anything with an always on insta-kill ability (medusas gaze attacks, and the mindflayers ability are just two examples) there is nothing worse then geting ready for an encounter the having to sit it out because your character turned the wrong corner at the wrong time.

d20's to d6's: What's the ratio in your dice collection?

Yea, as a warhammer and wh40k player I have tons of d6s. I do have quite a few d20s (not nearly as many as my d6s though), and a sizable number of d10s. I have very few d8s and d4s and those always seem to be the dice i need.

    Would you allow this feat?

I most definatly not allow that feat, and i do not allow cleave attempts to be made after an AoO. From my PoV its a timing issue, you can make a cleave attempt as part of a full round attack action, and as you can only make a partial action during an AoO you cannot use Cleave. If you allow...

How do you handle character creation?

I've never played in a game where the DM created character personalities before, though I have been in games where you had to create a character from a specific class. In my games I usualy tell my players several sessions before the start of a new campaign. I tell them a basic bit about the...

    Cliffhangers

My last D&D session (which ended back in October) came to a close with the party sitting on a crudely made raft in the middle of a stormy ocean while the ship they were just on burned to the waterline. When we start up again in about a week or so they will have washed up on the shore of an...

    WoW--What's all the hype about?

I've gotten a warrior to level 14, and though yellow quests are hard I've never found them to be impossible. a bit o' tactical advice: get the gun skill for your character then buy a cheep gun. You can use it to lure 1-2 creatures from a mob. thats how I did the first two peoples millita...

    How to tell the PCs...

It sounds to me like you arent having fun anymore, and if your not having fun there is realy no point in wasting your time seting up adventures. Frankly it strikes me as odd that the players expect everything to be as in the MM. I dont think i have ever been in a game where goblins and orcs...
